Regarding Firmament Titles For 5.3

I am one of people with Saint title (top 5 on goldsmith). And I was honestly looking forward to doing this again.

I worked hard, slept little, but I felt the title and kind of bragging rights was nice to have in the end. And that it was worth the trouble.
I enjoyed the competition a lot and now... I feel this is really bad decision.
I will participate again, to get the achievement and to get another craft to over 500k.
But, I am gonna be honest, I feel slighted that there is no new title and I might even go for more than one job. Why? In all fairness, I feel the competition is not gonna be as good and because I dislike the fact that others who didn't work as hard for title last time will now do just as little work and get the same tittle I worked my ass for.


So I am going into this with kind of spite, instead of actually competitive spirit like last time.

I hate that this is what that stupid decision from them made me into.

You don't. They send you a special item trough Moogle Post after ranking is done, using which unlocks (basically places) a special achievement unto your achievments list. The same way you can't see achievements for seasonal events you didn't participate in - they simply do not exist for you.

As for the DevTeam's decision - I'm perfectly fine by this and it's honestly pretty much what I was hoping for.

Limited titles should be limited. Now we have 96 Saint title holders(per server), every season it will be more and more of them.
I didnt care about title or achievment in first place, that's why i will compete again, for pure satisfaction and feeling of competition.
I just hope to meet some competiton in top 12

If anyone is taking anything from anyone then the blame is on SE for setting up the parameters for the rankings in this way. They could easily prevent the previous title holders from being eligible to get the season 3 achievement, but they have decided against it and even condoned people doing it multiple times in their Lodestone post.

Why? It's ridiculous to prevent anyone from competing every time.

This is a good compromise:

If you care about other people that much, then forgo the achievement points and be happy with the title you already have.

If you don't care and want those achievement points, then that's fine too. Go for it because no one is entitled to an achievement reward that they can try to do but fail to achieve.

SE is not to blame for whatever decision you make in this case, and neither are you.

I distinctly remember the titles being originally advertised as recurring rewards, and previous winners being unable to participate so as to give others a chance and prevent botters from dominating the leaderboards forever. Though now I'm unable to find any official info on that. Maybe someone with better memory could help a bit?

you can consume it, the lodestone post says it will be a different achievement because its labeled with the actual phase
so each phase will get his own achievement but they all give the same title until they decide to add a new one

Botters? If you refer to expert crafts, that is unable to really macro to get good results, but maaaaaybe possible to make one that makes 1 in 5 a good one. Or you meant gatherers? Not sure about others, but my bf who did mining last time was far from a botter. Which I am sure majority of people are like too.

To address previous winners part: how else do we get the achievement for part 3 then to be able to place again? I do not think I am wrong there this is their quote from today's announcement:

Achievements, on the other hand, are individual accomplishments which serve as a record of a character’s adventuring feats─such as how many times a character has placed well in the rankings. As such, it was decided that the skybuilder ranking achievements would be defined as “Phase II” and “Phase III” depending on when said achievements were earned.

This distinctively says that a character can rank more than once.

As someone who made top 12 last ranking, I am very glad that the titles will remain the same for people who were unable to compete last time. However, as a dedicated achievement hunter, I will be competing again solely to complete the achievement, even if I am ineligible for the title because I already have it. Speaking to other achievement hunters that I know, I found that they are also committed to competing again.

This solution is nice for people who missed it before but it doesn't really address the heart of the issue, which was Yoshi-P's claim that people would "achieve top ranking once and then 'graduate' so they would not need to compete again". If you make it, achievement hunters will come. That's just a fact. If your goal is to clear these people out of the competition in order to give other people a chance, this solution does not have that outcome. It instead makes achievement hunters MORE likely to clutter up the rankings because they know it's time limited. The only real solution to the problem is to make the top 12 achievement one-and-done like Yoshida claimed the first time.

This is very disappointing I would have loved the new title. I already gained tye saint tile and was very much looking forward to the next round of competition and keeping those titles as exclusive as possible. I finished the mount months ago and spent every day I have felt well enough prepping for the next rankings.

All the people saying that we is going back on it’s word this whole time. The never went back on any thing until now changing the tile. The only time me that Yoshida had mentioned the rerankings h had posed a question. Which many NA players took as you couldn’t rank again from a bad translation.

Also an actual bot wouldn't be limited to a fixed sequence of actions but could react to the different statuses.

I was talking about what they said over half a year ago, before 5.2, when the rankings were first announced. Unless I remember wrong, back then you should not have expected the title to be forever exclusive. But as I said I was unable to find hard evidence on this.
