Eventually, they'll decide that the pause for COVID-19 has gone on long enough.
(Or there will be a vaccine, or there will be significant decline in cases, or government and media will act as if things are solved, even if they aren't.)

And then housing will be fixed. For a few hours the morning this happens, anyway.

A nice thought, but not actually how it would play out. If i snapped my fingers and unpaused the auto-demo feature(which we all know i cant actually do) when the servers reset today(roughly 6 hours from the time im typing this) the number of houses that would open up would be in the zero to low single digits range per server. Un-pausing the timer just means that the houses that were already about to go away would be gone. Youd see a small number in the first couple weeks, a few more in the second couple weeks, a bigger increase in the 3rd couple weeks. Then on the 45th day(yes, six and a half weeks later) we would finally see exactly how many people stopped playing during the pandemic. On an american DC server, the average player population is 3-4 times how many houses are available in game. While there would certainly be new homes had, the numbers would be much lower then some people think. Housing wouldnt even be solved for 30 mins. Oh, and all those new buyers still have to deal with the RNG timer, so they all have the added benefit of being mad at the system all over again too.
