- Non-magic based healer.
- You can only make so many casting animations with shiny twinkles before they get boring.
- Throwing glass bottles at people sounds like fun.

It's a neat concept and allows for aesthetics that are a bit more interesting to me than what we have at present when it comes to healers.
For me personally, most robes in game conceal the gorgeous attire the lies underneath it. I tend to look at robes as a 'lazy' glamour choice because there isn't much point looking for matching glamours with legs and feet (sometimes hands too) because the robe covers it all up. There are robes that are frayed and open in the front that help with this, but then we deal with the unnatural looking physics when our characters move around, sit, etc.I've said before - I don't get the animosity towards robes, or the complaint that they all look the same/boring. There's as much variation in them as anything else, and I absolutely expect my mages to be in robes most of the time, just like I expect tanks to get armour.
As to the idea of them not getting Healing gear? I doubt it. If we're taking 5.3 and the term apothecary as hints, then that (for me at least) is absolutely compatible with the image of a potion brewer in robes.
The one existing thing I can immediately think of in-game to suit the idea is the Ramie Robe, which never seemed quite right for any of the other mages but I think it would work well for a potion-maker.
Basically, these type of issues are non-existent with more form-fitting glamour choices, so when a new set is released and the chest piece is yet another robe, it kind of takes a strike at the initial excitement of potentially building/modifying a glamour plate.
If i‘m not mistaken, didn‘t they want to add chemist instead of astro in the early stages of heavensward (also samurai as tank), but eventually didn‘t because they felt it wouldn‘t fit with the atmosphere of the expansion? just thought i read something along those lines in an interview before..
i think if they already played with the idea, chemist could be a likely possibility as the next healer job.
umm...
Class Gear says you are wrong:
Red Mage
Scholar
Gunbreaker
JFYI
If you look at the sets, you will find these as well:
Ravel Keeper’s Armor Sets
Fending:
PvP (Item Lv 100) Armor Sets
Casting: Wolfseye
Stormblood PvP Armor Sets – Group 2
Healing:
And then there is the Shadowbriger PVP gear, like seriously Mass Effect anyone?

On the topic of non magic based healer, I really doubt that's going to happen.
Maybe aesthetically it could differ from the three we have now, but it's still going to use MP to heal, it's still going to function like the other healers and have the same base kit of abilities + whatever couple of job gimmicks they toss its way for unique mechanics. It's not going to be as different as say a melee dps and a casting dps, or casting and aiming. I really doubt they're going to make a 4th healer any more mechanically different than the three healers we have now are from one another.
Same reason many people wanted DNC to be a healer, it's a concept of a job that's not just a reskinned WHM
Given the changes to MP and how inconsequential it is nowadays (especially so as of 5.3 with the AST changes), they could easily add a non-MP healer. On the topic of non magic based healer, I really doubt that's going to happen.

The only time it would ever come up is for Raise spamming. Outside of that, MP might as well not exist at all anymore. Now, I don't like that direction, but it's where we are.
Though, you're right on the other points. Even if it didn't use MP, it would still operate the same as the other healers. One DPS ability/spell. One DoT. A slew of oGCDs. Two basic single target GCD heals. A basic AoE GCD heal. And then it's gimmick spells.
That's the kit. Even if none of those abilities have an MP cost, it'll be the same kit. It won't be as interesting as people are hoping.
It'd operate on MP. To make potions that fast in the field, we'd have to use our own aether.
People want a healer that doensnt have cast bars.
So they think if they ask for DNC/CHM healers, they wouldnt get cast bars.
(And little do they realize, if DNC was going to be a healer, it would have had a "Dance" bar, and CHM will have a "Mixing" bar. Both of which require standing still, and both are effected by swift cast.)
Just accept the fact we're just getting a reskinned WHM.
