Reminds me of Haskill from Shivering Isles in Oblivion.I agree with the OP - it's an outdated relic from an earlier era of gaming and just doesn't belong in a MMORPG where the vagarities of internet connections can make or break you and your party, it's not even "mash X to not die", it's "mash X and hope to Azeyma that it's not interrupted due to network lag". QTEs are the bane of gaming and my most loathed gameplay element.
Please Yoshi, I humbily beg of you: no more QTEs!
Really, sir, you're praying to yourself?
I am fine with QTE but please not one like the 5.3 did that was way too over the top...and if you do that at least make it so that its fine if one member fails it..

??The meter is programmed to be deceptive, it says you have 10 seconds, but really the upper 5-7 seconds are impossible to maintain which gives the illusion that you're going to fail it, but in practice, it's just not good design because they give you a 2.5s margin of error and that's it. One lag spike and the whole group is dead.
I’ve never had it end without a full bar.
Going ham on a keyboard isn’t hard.

Not for you, maybe. But obviously that isn't the case for other people, myself included. Just because you think it's easy doesn't mean others think the same way. That's quite ableist. There are people with disabilities, physical limitations who might have trouble with this. People who have slower reactions due to disabilities. I know I have trouble with it and you have no idea how extremely frustrating it is when you can do mechanics just fine, but this QTE event is what keeps you from continuing the trial and being trolled by other people in the party because you continue to fail over something like mashing buttons on a keyboard. My hands hurt after doing it and then I don't even make it? Time after time after time? That there is no way around it is very frustrating.

What's the -ist word for when people want to ruin it for the many, just for the sake of the few? Do disabled and phisically limited people stomp their feet and pout everytime they don't get their way and need for everyone to bend over for them, or do they just move on and stick with what they can do?Not for you, maybe. It's also very frustrating to have things constantly change because there's always a small vocal group taking issues with something.
This playerbase is reaching ridiculous levels, always finding defects in every single thing.

I support OP. It is not wise to have the whole group do the trial over and over again because one player cannot press buttons fast enough. It's not fun, and what's more, it's not humane.
Dear developers, just let people complete the story. Regardless of whether they have physical limitations or not. Because each failure like this serves as a reminder for people with disabilities that they cannot do something in the game they love. It's just cruel.
We are not trying to ruin it for everyone. This is a trial that's part of the MSQ. Everyone should be able to get through it. This kind of QTE event would be fine in a hard or savage mode. Hardcore players could do those. I'm a casual player and I like getting through the story. That's mainly why I play this game, for the story. And you are seriously exaggerating we find defects in everything. I loved everything about the patch, I could get through everything. Except that QTE. Yes. we do like to focus on what we can do, but the QTE is a very very harsh reminder of what we can't do and it keeps us from continuing the game. The MSQ is for everyone and should be accessible to everyone. What's the -ist word for when people want to ruin it for the many, just for the sake of the few? My first thought after doing the QTE in the story was "man that's gonna be tough for people with disabilities." So, its disappointing to find out that yes, it is, and people are being rude to those people about it. I'm sorry you can't get through it and honestly I hope they don't double down on difficult QTEs, instead I hope they go back to making them easy or removing them completely. I'm also hoping they nerf that particular QTE. It adds nothing to the fight other than making your party upset at everyone. We are not trying to ruin it for everyone. Personally, I'm fine with them doing QTEs or something similar to mix up the combat or to emphasize a certain moment in a fight. I think that could be a cool idea. BUT the button mashing QTEs should absolutely go away. They don't really serve any interesting purpose and don't really add anything to the fights. They're also never going to be something that can really be tuned to feel right because they're either dead easy or too demanding but what this actually means physically is completely different from person to person, and this is made even worse when one person failing wipes the entire party. It's not like a fight mechanic that people can see coming and prepare a strategy for.
If they're going to do QTEs in the future, they really need to do something more interesting with them.
You know that QTE games are basically their own genre right? And games can still be massively successful for it. Resident Evil 4 may be one of the best games of all time and it's loaded with its iconic [Leon dying noises] for your failures. But still an amazing game.I agree with the OP - it's an outdated relic from an earlier era of gaming and just doesn't belong in a MMORPG where the vagarities of internet connections can make or break you and your party, it's not even "mash X to not die", it's "mash X and hope to Azeyma that it's not interrupted due to network lag". "I don't like thing therefore it should exist" is not a reason to get rid of something for other people. Otherwise pineapple on pizza would be banned. And in a thematic sense, it's perfect for representing universal struggling. Would you rather have a bullet hell? And don't you dare say that one's outdated. What would you do to show something is hard? A cutscene? Because that's just not respecting how other people view their characters.
