I fail to see any issue with this? This is no different then asking if more capstone skills should be risk/reward skills. As long as its thematic, which in my (#opinion)Dissaption is for scholar, that's the least of my issue with it.
Can we please get away from calling Dissipation a risk/reward skill? That may have been the case in Stormblood but right now they gimped the fairy so hard and your Aetherflow abilities are so superior to it that there is no "risk". Just get your fairy skills on their long cooldown and use Dissipation whenever it's up and you could use some extra Aetherflow, which is pretty much always.
The main problem with Dissipate is and always will be the ability itself. Can we please get away from calling Dissipation a risk/reward skill? The bonus healing ONLY affects spells, which SCH very rarely uses if played well. None of those bonus Aetherflow is effected by it at all. Now, if as someone else said, Dissipation gave you a damage bonus too? Yeah, that'd be great.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
Regaridng Dissipation and the suggested change: It would be interesting if the skill was aestethcially tweaked to...
* make the SCH vanish but have full control of Lily for the duration, using the various skills of both.
* Work more like a Trance with Lily dissapearring, but granting some of her attributes (mostly the wings) to the SCH.
Outside of flavor, I do think it would be more appropriate for it to buff the oGCDs as well, like have Excog heals for more when the target's heath if at a lower threshold (like 25% for a 75% heal, or maybe a pseudo reraise that is procs when the target takes a lethal hit and then automatically restores them to full HP) and a general potency buff to the other skills.
Could also tie that to Summon Seraph as well.
Very much this. The fact that it grants you aetherflow for an oh-crap Indom makes its non-ability potency buff even more worthless than a healing spell potency buff on post-Deployment nerfed SCH already is. Honestly, I've always wanted Dissipation to be removed since its addition. Why? Same reason Riddle of Fire got its +slow removed. I don't find it enjoyable to have my kit do a full 180 on me. I don't want to kill my pet on my pet-focused job. I don't want to go slow on Go Fast: The Class: The Job.The main problem with Dissipate is and always will be the ability itself.

Let alone the function, I can't wrap my head around the lore of Dissipation. Job quests spend so much time driving home the point that your fairy is your buddy. Why in the name of Nophica's blessed bosom would someone develop a technique that destroys your most useful battlefield asset and your buddy, instead of expanding on the foundation of previous skills? Granted, she's been nerfed to the point where she's far from that useful, but, again- lore. Feels terrible from a mechanical standpoint, feels terrible from a lore standpoint, I'd rather get the AF and +potency buffs from, like, anything else.
The only thing I want from a rework is the removal of the fairy deletion. Or, like, being able to click the buff off instantly, since I'm not really going to cast very many healing spells (maybe two), solely so I can summon my fairy again.
I personally view the bonus healing as more of a failsafe then the actual boon of the buff, the trade-off IS the aetherflow stacks. the healing bonus is for when the stacks alone are not sufficient for the situation. The boon is the free stacks and the extra healing and/or damage and sustain it provides.Very much this. My interpretation of the lore for Dissapation is that it's supposed to be a skill you use in times of need to take back some of the power (or aether, or whatever) you used to manifest your fairy. Either way, iirc I'm under the impression the quest you learn dissapation is that they skill represents a bond of trust between the scholar and faerie, funny enough I also intepret the LB3 and Summon Seraph in this way, except in stead of trusting the fairy to give you back its power the faerie trusts YOU to grant it more power (your group in the case of the lb3 and the self in the cast of Seraph)
Tbh once they made Dissapation re-summon the faerie back it massively improved my use of it. I tend to use it quite a bit even if it's just for extra energy drain, and it's handy in a pinch when you burnt all your faerie skills and it's still not enough.

I feel that functionally it's a semi-interesting "oh shit" button, but beyond that... lore wise it's a real head scratcher.
If they even reworded it so instead of dismissing your fairy, your buddy exhausts themself giving you 3 more pips, but the little thing needs to rest for a second...
Recently cleared TEA with my static and now am just waiting for my sub time to run out. It's nice, actually, being able to play games that I don't despise anymore. Though, I'd love to eventually come back, but, as far as I can tell, SE stopped caring about healers, and until they do, and genuinely put some actual effort into the classes to not make them boring as sin, I can't see myself resubbing. Here's hoping they prove me wrong, but I won't hold my breath, plenty of games out there I can play. So yes, for the time being and the foreseeable future, I have quit not only healing, but the game as a whole.

Make SCH great again! Seriously though, we just want our class to be fun and engaging again, not OP, is that too much to ask for?
I'm glad to hear that, sounds like you've been making yourself miserable playing this game. There really isn't a point in doing something that makes you miserable.Recently cleared TEA with my static and now am just waiting for my sub time to run out. bye bye my dude!Wow over 1 year later this thread is still around. Guess it isn't surprising since SE hasn't done a thing to fix the broken/boring healers. In fact, they're making ast even more braindead this patch, cool. Came to the healer forums to see if people were talking about that. See you guys in 6.0? They surely aren't going to do anything meaningful this expansion, if ever. Making healers fun and balanced at the same time seems to be far too difficult a task for the balance team, unfortunately.
