Lack of updates on Viera and Hrothgar.

Viera & Hrothgar have been out now for over a year. Things have just been shut down the last few months with COVID. Just sayin'.

Now what always gets me is that Au Ra were released as a complete race. They had access to all hairstyles & hats right from the beginning. Why on earth did they not plan for Viera & Hrothgar to receive the same treatment? I understand that there was a bit of a time crunch with the release of ShB, but that should have been a priority to get Viera and Hroth brought up to speed after release.

I know people have mentioned that they both use unique meshes (no idea if this is accurate), but even if that were to be the case,even that isn't a great excuse in my mind. The devs should have allotted whatever time was needed in order to make them complete. And if this is something where the upper management at SE didn't allow the time or funding, then shame on the company for allowing them to stay half-arsed.

I mean, sure, I guess they did warn us early on that they would have limitations, but even still, that's pretty lame. I've never seen new races handled like that in other games. It boggles the mind. This is SE's cash cow, but at times it definitely does not feel like it. Between all the clunky inventory & glamour systems, housing woes, incomplete races, less new content being released with patches, it's starting to get old. ;X

Though, they did also have Twi'lek previously were in a similar circumstance. Though, those SWTOR races are kind of to the extreme, they don't even have hair.

They do consider these races complete though. These races are "limited", rather than incomplete. Pretty sure there is an actual quote somewhere too, that they consider viera/hrothgar finished.

Ridiculous. First off, that dude posts on an alt, and even if that wasn't the case, are non-viera/hrothgar players not supposed to have an opinion? What about players who were viera/hrothgar previously and just fantasiad off of it?

Are you really expecting that they would have time and energy to care about this minor issue after entire COVID-19 dilemma? I would say that we will be lucky if we can get entire 6.3 patch on time atm. Lack of hair styles will not damaging your game experiences just be patient. It is not going to be something they will pay attention to in 2020

I haven't read the rest of this thread, but I'm sure someone is going to say "well, Covid".. like uhh.. we didn't have anything new for viera/hrothgar for like 7 months before Covid really hit. We still have literally nothing, and it's crazy! I made a joke the other day how we probably won't see any updates for them until the next expansion, but more and more I believe it.

Ahhh, I will admit I never made it too far in SWTOR. I was bummed I couldn't pick the race I wanted at the beginning and that turned me off. I think it was actually the Togruta I wanted. Figures. lol.

I do vaguely remember the early chats about Viera & Hroth implying they'd be more limited, but that still feels bad. :/ IIRC, they had originally said that they would bring some of the shared-hairstyles to at least Viera (RIP Hroth), but then that later changed that to them both getting unique-styles only. Wee bit over a year now, and neither has anything new to show off.

This may be my absolute lack of any programming skills shining through, but it seems like it wouldn't have been a huge leap to bring the hairstyles to at least Viera. I'm not seeing how their heads are that different than the existing races that they couldn't slap the various styles on 'em. Ears would probably pop out in weird spots on some styles (the plaits come to mind), but this is also a game where tails clip through skirts all day long, bunny ears shoot through cowls, hands clip with brand-new cash shop items...so it doesn't seem they're overly fussed with how things clip in game. :P

Hroth, well, I dunno what to do with them. But it seems like Viera & Hroth are connected at the hip, and unless both races can have something new, then neither will get it.

After they spent what felt like 20 minutes talking about stickers for gpose clearly they do have time and energy for all sorts of nonsense.

(Disclaimer: Don't feel particularly strongly about the stickers personally, I realize it's different people working on stuff, just on the topic of having energy to care about "minor issues".)

Eh, I'm fine with the situation I know people seem to hate when someone points out this is what we signed up for, but it was. We weren't even going to get glasses or anything till some Devs did it themselves. I'd never say no to more but I also accept this is a low priority issue in an already abnormal time for the devs, they're behind and already said they'll likely never make up all the time lost, but in an effort to make up some of it, whats the first thing you drop/dile back on? Low priority stuff, I don't expect to hear anything about it now untill 6.0 but if things stayed as they are I'm still content and just happy I can be a Bun.

Honestly rather than some band-aid hairs and hats I'd rarther they just all in on a character overhaul for us all, I can't remember the interview but a while back Yoshi said he wanted to game to go like 20+ years or something and acknowledged that for it to make it that far the engine would at some point need to get looked at and that would be the time to look at graphics and character models.
My guess for that would be arround 7.0 as it makes sense, new story arc new beginning, it sells into itself.

I would be will to put money on the reason you're not getting hairstyles for Viera and Hrothgar is because they are working on Male Viera and Female Hrothgar. When their out then you will get hairstyles so they don't have to go back redo unisex hairstyles. That's my theory anyway.

It was a tough decision, but we decided to do our best to meet both the player feedback and our development team’s vision. It will be very costly to add a new race or genders. So I won’t say no, but I would not like to set expectations high.

It just annoys me, that when they release brand new hairstyles post-Viera/Hrothgar, that they don't even make those work for them!

It's just like "Lolz, here's a new hairstyle for the other races, but Viera and Hrothgar, it's not for you! Tee hee!"

TLDR: I like both races but sad about lack of updates

Have faith. Despite the covid, I tend to think we have good things coming our way, either soon or in 6.0. There has to be some reason why they cut back on content development compared to earlier xpacs. We have been getting less content, despite ShB being seen as a financial success. And the Nier Raid actually means less development, not more, because they have a lot pre-existing concepts and assets to use, compared to creating a raid from complete scratch. I was thinking about this over the weekend, and maybe Im being an optimist, but maybe theyre working on something big for us. I just dont think YoshiP or the devs are throwing us under the bus while they sip Champaign. If it was just about fixing Viera and Hrothgar, they couldve done that by now unless theyre stalling on it or they have something bigger planned. As in, theyre not going to bother releasing small updates if they plan on doing a large overhaul. And if theyre doing a large overhaul, it would explain a lot why things are relatively low key in terms of content and fixes.

I dont know, maybe this is a bad idea, but I think Im going to start holding my breath here. I think something good is on the way.
