Lack of updates on Viera and Hrothgar.

That’s a bit of a sweeping generalisation.
But regardless, it really wouldn’t be remiss of the devs to throw some breadcrumbs out for us.

Yeah, I'd agree, but it's happened with tons of the breadcrumbs we've been given. Housing, the Au Ra concept designs, blue mage, SAMs initial potencies, ast, etc.....

You'd then also have some people expecting the Hroth/Viera exclusive hairs for their race of choice as well.

They could at least make some of the older hairstyles work for Viera and gave Hrothgar some parts of old hairstyles to work with.
Not to mention fix the general clipping issues Viera hair has. Looking at you long, poofy hair with that one strand that clips through our shoulders... >w>

When Viera were announced as a playable race, I was ecstatic- when I saw them, I was kind of disappointed. They lacked that same appeal Fran & her sisters had given me of the Viera race from FFXll. Their ears weren't the same, they didn't have the spotting on their ears as Fran did. They lacked Fran, Mjrn's or Jote's hairstyles or any other Viera hairstyles from FFXll- which to me, left me scratching my head as those were some obvious available opportunities. Some people are asking for cross-over hairstyles to Viera- like the Earned ones or bought ones & I agree, but that's where I stop. I love the idea of Yoshi wanting to give Viera their own hairstyles that's designed around their race & I honestly see it as a waste of time to just add already existing hairstyles the other races have (especially since almost all of the hairstyles from the other races are really boring compared to what NPC's are given)
Armor fits Viera awkwardly, they can't wear hats. Hoods don't even sit right on their heads.
Most players just put them in silly outfits, instead of outfits that enhance immersion- which tarnishes the appeal to even play a Viera at all for me. What Viera do have going for them is they are hands down the best looking race when it comes to beauty.

Viera don't have the lackluster, soulless stare Midlanders are cursed with, instead Viera are graced with having more of a RBF. You can choose between sultry or young, cute between Viera- where Highlanders & Miqo'te are just this blank setting that needs a certain something to be improved on. Viera have what feel like texture to their faces, a small highlight that goes really far- unlike Elezen females who's unpainted, dead mannequin like face typically wards people off from playing them, aside from the lack of any good hairstyles. I'm not going to mention Roe women, they're perfect the way they are, aside from the overly aggressive emotes they have & lack of THASS.

Lalafels aren't anything to base what beauty is- they're childlike & it's obvious why they can't be compared to anything except, an ugly ball of clay. (Although, I'd have created lalafels to look more mice-like: larger, rounded ears, Almond eyes, mice-like noses- long tails with a fuzzy tuft at the end & long feet, like an off-race of the Qiqirn.)

What Viera are limited in, I feel Hrothgar have it far, far worse. You'd think they'd be this tall, lean athletic looking species as they looked in FFX but it's far from that. They hunch over like there's a back issue, are really, really brawny to the point it doesn't look good, their tails lack the length a Ronso tail had & their faces have this odd shape, where they're larger in the jaw & when you do a side-by-side comparison, Ronso from FFX looked better- but that's just me.

Both races need more love, that's for sure.

Less dungeons, less relics steps, the new races can't wear helmets hats, and now the "Viera and Hrothgar will get new hair styles" is going over a year to implement. The question we need to ask Square enix is: Is FFXIV going into maintenance mode? Is this the start of the downward slope for the game? Combine this with the fact that we will most likely not get the missing genders and the game situation is starting to look very grim between the devs and the subscribers.

Now, if the lack of hair style is because they're working on the missing genders then I personally don't mind the trade off. But the likelihood that we'll get missing genders is very low.

What's worse is they don't elaborate on the missing hairstyles for Viera and Hrothgar, would it kill them to say that it's taking a long time but that it's still a project that's being worked on? They're brushing it aside too easily, in my opinion. I know they quickly, very quickly mentioned it in january's 5.2 live letter by the way; but since we're not getting it in 5.3 I'd expect an update on the situation. Features like these related to the playable races are very important for the subscribers.

I know certain people are going to rush the thread telling you this is what you signed up for and how great racial-only hair/faces will be (whenever they actually add it, maybe another year from now), but it's embarrassing that in a whole year they haven't added a single thing to these races.

I haven't read the rest of this thread, but I'm sure someone is going to say "well, Covid".. like uhh.. we didn't have anything new for viera/hrothgar for like 7 months before Covid really hit. We still have literally nothing, and it's crazy! I made a joke the other day how we probably won't see any updates for them until the next expansion, but more and more I believe it.

I do think the ears we got are kind of low quality. One of the ears looks very similar to how they looked in some of the images people have shown of older viera, but I think those are especially low quality. They look kind of bad. My veena preset uses tall ones, and not the bent ones. People just choose to use the bent ones - one seems to be the most popular. People also seem to make the viera ears as short as possible too, the consequence of having options. We actually can dye the tips of our viera's ears and have similar to Frans (not as pronounced), but you have to highlights in your hair. Can probably just blame that on limitations.

I'm not honestly expecting anything to be done until the next expansion. Hopefully, we'll get some more customization options and the other half of the two races. Though I won't hold my breath for that last.

I'm really still waiting for hats/helms to actually display on them. As a Viera main, it gets really tedious trying to put together my glams and make ABSOLUTELY SURE the headpiece is some kind of crown or headband ONLY. x.x

I hate to be cynical but I really doubt they're ever going to have proper hat/helmet support, sadly. But I feel you, when I fantasia'd off Viera yesterday there was this dumb light bulb moment like "oh, I can actually wear everything again and it shows up on my character!" like it's something noteworthy. But after having been so conditioned to cycle through the flower corsages and headbands for months and months it kind of is.
