Channeled spells (a la Fey Union, only as a player instead of a pet) could also be an interesting direction for a new job. It could work well aesthetically and mechanically with GEO, pumping out more damage the longer you can stand still (a la BLM) and channel uninterrupted. Particularly with GEO's roots in eastern mysticism and casting using bell chimes...

I'm still on the fence about Time Mage as a healer, honestly.

Just like GEO with WHM, Time Mage (TIM? TMG?) is very aesthetically similar to AST, given their spells are billed as "Time and Space Magic" in Japan. AST is not only intrinsically connected to stars, but wields iconic Time Magics like Gravity, modified versions of Quick and Regen, delayed action "bomb" effects, and has only recently lost access to a couple of its time-manipulating effects (largely out of necessity due to changes to its arsenal).
I think it's more likely we'd see AST retooled to be essentially another name for Time Mage (with cards as substitutes for buffs like Haste, since Yoshi-P has been adamant about not adding that) than to see Time Mage be added as an additional healer.

Though admittedly Time Mage does sound like an interesting opportunity for a DoT Caster, particularly if it could mean retooling SMN away from DoTs and more towards pets and actual summoning. Just food for thought.

have a feeling we will have a new class that dual wield sword or something.

i keep thinking that ivalice arc story where they shown the 4th legion garlean commander (that "judge" from FF12) is sporting 2 sword on his hip, so he definitely a dual wield class

because i cant imagine someone with armor like that doing ninja pose/animation, that will be hella weird too see him doing that crouch pose while holding both sword in reverse grip style like yugiri or any ninja class lol

so i just cant help but think, this guy might a be a sign for a new class that will be dual wielding sword

I think the only sword-class left is Spellblade (etc)? Which would fit, I think, considering it's one of the only jobs left that could wear heavy armor while being distinct.

But as others have pointed out, Gabranth himself is officially a Beastmaster in XIV's lore. Not that I'm entirely sure his own job is relevant of course, considering the number of other unclassed or near-classed Garleans. Gaius wields a gunblade but Gunbreaker (which uses the traditional vibro-weapon construction rather than the rifle+sword bayonet) is nothing like him, for instance.

I don’t care about Time Mage that wasn’t what the link was about.

That’s Gabranth the Beastmaster. If we are thinking of the same guy. I would expect his weapons are probably placeholders maybe if he does turn out to be a new class. Especially being the “Big Bad” of the relic storyline this time around, you would think he would have a more noticeable weapon than generic dual blades.

I mean, he has generic dual blades because that’s what he has in XII, and they almost literally cut and paste him from there. Why the Beastmaster addition is kind of weird honestly.

Gabranth isn’t the Beastmaster like everyone keeps saying. Everyone needs to go back to Gangos and reread the flavour text. The Beastmaster is “Lion sas Helsos”, a character we have yet to know much more about. Gabrath’s battle unit employs beasts and other old-school tactics, but he him self is not the Beastmaster in question.

Also, the Gabranth in question is actually Basch’s son. Basch’s twin, Noah, dies during 12, and the events FFXIV Ivalice take place some years later. It’s reasonable to assume that ironically his son turned out to be a bad guy again. (Poor Basch.). However, he is the son of Basch van Gabranth, not Basch von Ronsenburg. Gabranth is the surname of their mother. This could be some time down the family tree or Basch might have adopted Gabranth as his surname, I don’t know.

Remember, Fran is still alive because Viera have a longer lifespan than the Hume. Ashe is long since dead. Time went on.

The Ivalice-ported characters are considered Alternate Universe counterparts, not lifted straight from the story of XII. While XIV takes some inspiration from XII (as it does with several entries across the series), the two are not considered part of the same continuity.

For instance, Gabranth is Noah van Gabranth rather than Noah fon Rosenburg; his father Basch was the original leader of Noah's regiment before his age caught up to him. Fran mentions she still serves a rebellious princess, strongly implied to be Ashe or a counterpart. Dalmasca exists, but is part of the western coast of Othard rather than an eastern peninsula off Ordalia - particularly damning for the theory, since unless the rest of Ordalia sank into the sea (possible with the Sixth Calamity I guess) and the entire planet literally turned upside-down (not so much), it's not the same country.
