I find it far more likely that Gaius' or Regula's sword would just be released on the Mogstation as a glamour for the Gunblades we already have, than for the devs to introduce another Gunblade-wielding job.

You have to remember by lore Garlean gunblade and Gunbreaker gunblade are considered two different weapons due to difference in functions

Gunbreaker follows the Squall style gublade being ammo is used to empower the blade and only projectile used is the Light energy Barrier rounds to create shields since the Squall Gunblade is designed to disperse magical energy released from the gunblade thus can't form solid projectiles to harm enemies, only create explosives and solid light constructs into the blade to hit a enemy. A design more fitting for tank job because how explosive it is to attract attention and how Squall is still considered a Tank of FF8

Garlean Gunblade follows more to real life gunblade design, with some fantasy adjustment, that focus on the blade and gun aspect being separate functions to combine melee for close range combat and the gun for range combat. It is more fitting for a DPS job due to the combat focus being more offensive in both melee and range combat. If anything Garlean Gunblade has potential to be even a Range DPS job if they use the Azure Flame blade slash attacks properly with the Gun function.

    edit:

There are some interesting lore covering the differences between Gunbreaker Gunblade and Garlean Gunblade but most of it goes to Gunbreaker side.

The Gunbreaker Gunblade is intended to be a pure melee weapon designed to make melee combat viable against a army of range combat enemies mostly being Guns. When Allagan Empire's army began advancing Gun technology to a point majority of their army had become more modern day soldiers with gun weapons such as AR, SMGs, and etc. The Hrothgar needed a weapon that can counter and Break the advantage Guns give to their enemies. Thus the Gunbreaker Gunblade were created designed to use Aether charged ammo to enhance their slicing power, create explosions via the blade, and create Bullet proof magic barriers on the user and their allies. This style of weaponry of course is one reason why Allagans could not fully become Gun focused army and had to still depend on sword, bows, and etc to advance anti-magic and magic infused weaponry. This lore also explains why the Gunbreaker Job became a Tank Job because it is literally a Job created to take on Gunfire and be resistant to it.

Garlean gunblade, however, is more recent as it became developed due to the conquest of Hrothgar's lands by the Empire. The design is used to be more offensive combat as the Gun and Blade acts as separate functions rather than incorporating the Blade and Gun together to infuse the Blade. Regula Gunblade design is only recently revealed to be a more recent model of the Garlean Gunblade advancement in developing their technology using a Ceruleum powered core which creates the Azure Flames when it fires the range attacks and creates the Azure flame slashes.

They should just rework Whitemage back to how it was before of Shadowbringers with 6.0.
In shadowbringers it made sense out of lore reason to massively increase the whm's affinity towards light magic and turn them basically offensively into pure light mages, whose affinity towards light absolutely overshadows thei affinity towards wind, earth and water.
In regard of water has been the whitemage always the poor skill design oversight, back before shadowbringers, where whm's had only 1 single lauchable water skill, annd it wasn't even a magic spell based on the typical spell naming convetions of FF, while lots of enemies thew at us already water magic spell, where you asked yourself only - why can this stupid trash cast Waterga/Aquaga or lower and we learn for 80 lvl still no fu...... Single water spell?

I hope, once all classes get for one day their final major endgame redesigns for Lvl 99 content, that the 8 classic elements will be findable among all classes somewhere and the others

    Fire > Blackmage/Sorcerer
    Ice > Blackmage/Sorcerer,
    Thunder > Blackmage/Sorcerer
    Wind > Whitemage/Priest > return of Wind/ra/ga/ja
Earth > Whitemage/Priest/Redmage/Elementalist, return of healers Stone/ra/ga/ja and we should get to see Quake/Shockwave
Water > Whitemage/Priest/Redmage/Elementalist , implemention of Aqua/ra/ga/ja for WHM, water replacing ice for RDM, making ice more a speciality of BLM
    Darkness > Dark Knight/Shadowbringer/ Astrologist/Oracle
    Light > Whitemage/Priest, Scholar/Sage, Astrologist/Oracle, Paladin/Crusader
All Elements > Summoner/Ritualist based on active High Summon, Ninja/Shinobi based on Finger Sign Combos, Monk/Champion based on Stances/Attunements

Thats how I do see the elements among the classes that do use elemental powers by class design

I mean, the issue with "well White Mages only use Light because of Shadowbringers stuff" is that we have Sin Eater Conjurers. They still use Earth and Wind. If Sin Eaters, beings purely of light aether just about, aren't turning their spells into Glare/Dia and instead get Sanctified Stone or the like then the obvious answer is that the White Mage is just changing to Light themed things.

And I'm not really sure where you're going with the names and such, just seems kind of odd. Anyways, Fire/Ice (Thunder is kind of weakly represented in Black Mage) are in Black Mage. Light is represented in White Mage. Thunder/Wind kind of get more of a role in Red Mage than other elements, but it's kind of a weak focus, maybe they'll add more to it. I doubt it but I feel it would kind of help it stand out elementally speaking as opposed to the more hodgepodge they currently have. The others are even more weakly represented at best, and I wouldn't call any of them "all elements", certainly not Summoner at least currently. Water/Earth could certainly see some focus if Geomancer becomes a thing, though I'll add to that this is looking at it purely in an offensive standpoint, as most of these elements are represented outside of damage dealing stuff, and Dark for Astro is... eh, kind of weak too.

Whatever the next round of jobs are, I hope they fill out the gear that only one job currently use if they are melee. I have to admit I really don't like leveling Dragoon or Ninja knowing that my inventory will be filled up with numerous gear pieces only they can use while I can casually hop between all my tank or rDPS jobs to mix things up and only have to worry of getting different weapons.

New job introductions have never been gear-based and have always been role-based. I don't know how this debate keeps coming up on these forums. Melee DPS are melee DPS, the gear they wear doesn't impact whether or not another melee DPS is coming. We just got a new physical ranged DPS bringing it up to 3, the next likeliest is magical ranged DPS alongside a healer, both of which have been teased and show signs of more coming through the rest of Shadowbringers.

I still have faith theyll fix MCH to be less spamy and toothless and more structured and intuitive so i dont want another gunner job taking up the very limited slots we got left before "Rhapsodies of Eorzea"

Healer and Caster seems to be the most requested I do love me some Geomancer or perhaps a Magic Knight. Healers idk what theyll do Druid, Medic, Necormancer , Whisperer, Chemist, Apothacary, Elementalist Time Mage, Illusionist, ive heard some good ideas but nothing super unique or practical. Whichever jobs gets picked i hope to god it does NOT start at level 70 at that point just make it start at 90 ffs

Why would SE, a business, ever make a new job for a new expac start at the new level cap when so much of the draw is leveling up that new job however you want to to play the new story on? The first ten levels are for players to acclimate themselves to a new job, the next ten are to get comfortable as new skills are introduced so that players are comfortable starting the new expac on the new job if they decide to.

Going to say this while I'm feeling tipsy...

    "Keyblader"

Why keyblades? Because it's a hot Square Enix property and I'm, somewhat sure Disney doesn't have rights to the name and look of the weapon. Our WoL/D wields DUAL keyblades with otherworldly powers. Uses scouting gear like Ninja.

Think about it? KH has the darkness, we have the rift of the 13th, or voidsent. Have the job class start at the Gold Saucer, where our job master is a hooded dwarf from the First who can crossover to OTHER worlds (not shards, worlds like how Nier is a part of FFXIV now.) Why is a dwarf on the Source? He tagged along with a certain Gentleman of Darkness after a not currently disclosed adventure! He is an inventor of strange and unique weapons and trinkets, and his masterpiece is the keyblade in which he wields two to fell sin eaters before the Warrior of Darkness came on the scene. Before coming to the first, he had a battle with Greg, who wanted the keyblade for himself. Eventually, Greg had enough and opened a portal to the source. The dwarf wondered around the desert until he found the Saucer, and set up shop selling his wares to would be adventurers for MGP. (soulstone and keyblades)

Maybe, the dev team could just weave a unique Hildebrand storyline into that job class? Imagine having the Dwarf, Hilde, Natsu, as our traveling companions? While facing a sorcerer (A leftover ascian protege) who is trying to "fix" Emet's failed attempt in merging the 13th with the source, by flooding the source with "darkness". I'll let the writing team sort that out far better than what I hobbled together.

    Cheers!

You might be surprised there. Disney and Square's joint ownership of KH properties has made it notoriously difficult to have crossover events with other media (for instance, why Sora isn't in Smash Bros yet despite him being one of the single-most popular choices approaching KH3's release and it being a great way to market the game when its full-price DLC was released), since both companies have to give clearance for the likenesses to be implemented and The Mouse is extremely protective of its brand.
I believe Square also has an interesting rule where characters are "officially" owned by their designers (so Nomura owns like... half of the character rights at the company at this point), which I would expect to apply to their appearances and equipment as well, though I'm not sure how this applies to the KH series since it's a joint property.

Granting, there have been several games that have implemented key-like weapons that just didn't call them Keyblades, since the iconography of a key isn't trademarked any more than guns are. So Square could circumvent this if they really wanted to.
But, there's not a lot of reason for Square to want to add it if it's not intended to be representative of a Square property, so it would sort of defeat the point of implementing the job in the first place to do so. I expect it would be more likely for them to introduce a standard Spellblade job (perhaps sharing Maiming gear with Dragoon), since it has more precedent within the FF series.
