Why is something appealing to guys 'sexism', but appealing to girls is fine?all i can say is "cant satisfy everyone", i mean like it or not FF14 maybe cater toward casual player but inside these casual is still majority of man so sexism is still one of the aspect they need to do to keep the audience happy, remember this is made in japan not west (you know how japan and echi goes hand in hand in video games

i dont like it either, but thats how society see it nowadays.
man love anime and waifu = eew go away you creep
girl love handsome guy and bl stuff = you go girls!
its kinda sad but thats how it is. i just think it as the counter balance, because man have a lot stuff to delve into, like seriously the amount of anime, waifu, echiness that was cater toward man of culture is just absurd compare to girl, so i just think it as "unavoidable risk"

I could see that. I liked Byakko's appearance, minus the weird tiger-face right arm and he's basically naked. I guess it's just a matter of how you view things. I think Byakko's design is appealing because it radiates power and something strive towards physically.

It's the amount of representation that's at issue.
There are far more sexy, scantily clad female human normal/near-normal NPC models than sexy, scantily clad male human normal/near-normal NPC models. When there's such a massive difference in representation, you're going to get claims of sexism because not all the preferences of the player base are getting equal representation. It's been an issue pretty much throughout video game history. The industry is still defaulting NPC models (and advertising) to appeal to the straight males (which can have a side benefit of appealing to non-straight females) while mostly ignoring the straight females and non-straight males.
Try drawing up a list of all the sexy, scantily clad male human normal NPC models in the game then compare it to a list of ll the sexy, scantily clad female human normal NPC models. Straight females and non-straight males would love to see their preferences represented just as much as straight males and non-straight females get their preferences represented.
If representation were close to equal, most of the claims of sexism would disappear (won't claim all, we all know some people are still going to complain regardless).

Whether people like it or not gamers, as in those who have multiple consoles, large game libraries, are more prone to buying new games/systems at release, etc, are predominately male. That's not sexism, that's just statistics. It's the amount of representation that's at issue.

Barring that, I'd have to agree with Amnmaat that women are traditionally viewed as beautiful, elegant and graceful while guys are viewed as rugged and rough. I think the designs are meant to reflect that.

I'm not calling who's buying them sexism. I'm calling catering predominantly to that one market segment sexism, because it is.Whether people like it or not gamers, as in those who have multiple consoles, large game libraries, are more prone to buying new games/systems at release, etc, are predominately male. Did you ever stop to consider that maybe the reason why males make up the majority of gamers (by your definition) is because so many games sexualize females without also sexualizing males? It turns off female and many non-straight male buyers because their own interests aren't represented in like fashion. Balance that out and the game industry will see a surge in multiple title sales to those who aren't straight male, creating even more gamers building game libraries.
Would you stop buying games just because they started adding just as many sexualized male NPCs as they did female? Would you and other straight males somehow feel threatened if male characters started getting the same treatment that female characters get?
It doesn't matter how the genders have been traditionally viewed. Society is changing. What matters is how they should be view going forward.

Believe it or not. Most female gamers don't really care about the sexualization of female characters, as well as male gamers don't care about the sexualization of male characters. Like seeing their abs or bare ass in some games.I'm not calling who's buying them sexism. I'm calling catering predominantly to that one market segment sexism, because it is.

If anything most see it as badass when they see a female wearing a sexy outfit rather than hot as if a guy would see it.
Its honestly the media, journalist and the SJW(that don't even play the games they're complaining about) that's really putting it on the spot light.
That's not to say some girls wouldn't get uncomfortable with some female characters just like how some boys wouldn't get uncomfortable with some males but if I'm honest. Those people are the minority and most gamers don't really give a s**t as long as the game they're playing that has said imaginary is good.
Also there has never been a study to truly pin point that more males play more video games than females world wide. As far as the US goes, its about almost even.
But it is a fact that more females play more casual games than males. (facebook games, moblie games, sims).

What exactly are you trying to debate here with these two pictures? They do not compare. If you are going to do comparisons in the future you should do it with characters that are applicable.
Who makes you the know it all on this information of what 'gamers' care about, the YouTubers you watch?Believe it or not. They do not. You need to take in account the setting these characters are designed for, personality, etc.Well I never said Ellie was ugly so get your panties out a bunch. I posted this for a comparison of how different designs are from JP devs to Western devs.
If I wanted to post something ugly I would have easily used something else. Goal wasn't to trash western female design, why I picked Ellie because shes the most popular.
See above. And they certainly do compare since they're made by two different types of devs. JP vs Western character design.
I was using "most" for a reason because I knew someone was gonna get offended some how and come in with the "well you can't speak for me".

I mean, there's many more characters Naughty Dog has designed aside from Ellie. Tess, Marlene, Abby, Elena (my b), Chloe and probably more but these are the few who come into my head (since they hold story importance).
Also this is kinda delving into "anime vs western animation" territory.
