    With this sort of thing, you have to be very careful what you wish for. Give specifics as well.
    Though its always better to have more buttons than less, since atm there's hardly any that would need merging.

    Merged buttons I would like

    About half of monk's either useless or overly niche skills (seriously 5 things to do when boss is disengaging is too many)

    Ley lines and Between the lines. BLM's have been asking for this for ages.
    Cover and intervention.
    Hide and Trick attack
    Dragonfire dive and Stardiver. They are literally the same just potency. Dragonfire is on too long a cooldown anyway
    Draw and play (seriously decoupling these was a stupid idea like many things in current Astro. Just remove the timer)
    Cure 1/benefic 1 into cure 2/benefic 2. Benefic 1 is never used and Cure 1 is no longer used after level 40

    Should collapse combos like the tanks' combos. Set the base path into 1 button and put the alternate finisher(storm's eye, and Goring blade for WAR/PLD respectively) into a 2nd button. Same for pretty much every other job with a linked combo like that. For red mage I like how pvp did it. Where verfire/stone turns into verthunder/aero. They already made thunder/aero turn into flare/holy and jolt turn into scorch so whats stopping them.

    SAM would be the only tricky one since it has 3 separate combos, but I think making hakaze > yukikaze 1 button and then putting the other 2 into 2 different buttons would work since the finisher would reset the chains. So Jinpu > Gekko and Shifu > finisher(can't remember the name)

    I disagree with re-collapsing draw and play. I like being able to hold a card for the CD to cooldown. Makes it possible to throw out 2 Lord/Lady with divination for a solid dps spike without having to blow through sleeve draw just to do that. Draw > wait for CD > deploy the Lords/Ladies > Divination > Sleeve Draw > Deploy more lord/lady or set up next divination for when CD finishes. The more Lord/Lady you can throw using draw the better since its 8% for the respective roles instead of the lower 6% for the basic cards.

    I'm referring to combo actions being merged. That's no longer QoL. The rest of the stuff in here makes sense.

    Then I'll say he can just place the button two times on his hotbar. It's what I am doing with my combos in PvP, so I can play how I am used to.

    What was suggested was a downgrade of the current rotations.
    It wasn't so much the one button aspect of it, but the idea of just alternating combos forward and back each time. That's not how they play at the moment, and tanks have only been getting lower and lower skill floors; cementing them into the basement is probably going to happen but I can imagine most tank mains will be kicking and screaming along the way.

    So pressing 1 button instead of 3 for the same effect is a down grade?

    Your issue seems to be with the lack of skill variety. As long as things take up excess space old stuff has to be removed to add new things. By condensing things you open up more space for them to experiment with different ideas and mechanics.
