Change The Rules For Leaving Dungeons (aka Why People Insta-Quit Castrum Meridianum)

Nearly every time I have got Castrum Meridianum in Main Scenario roulette over the last few months, there is a player who leaves the dungeon before it even starts and it is becoming more and more ridiculous. Because as soon as one player quits, everyone else follows suit.

The rules for leaving dungeons need to be changed. There I am asking for a rule that I call the "Castrum Meridianum" rule. Make it so that at least 15 minutes passes before a player leaves a dungeon willingly thereby discouraging a player from leaving and that have to stay and support their party instead of continously abandoning them and making them either wait for a replacement or leaving the dungeon and forcing them to requeue, in DPS instances for a long time.

It's time that players of this game step up and help each other out. This is a game that makes you do that and if that is beyond your comprehension, then just stop playing.

I don't find people do that as much now. That was a problem for quite some time but seems to have gotten much better for me at least and I run main at least twice a day on two different characters. I don't think the penalty needs to be increased but the differences in xp awarded for that duty should be higher than it is. That's why people are leaving.

Or improve the rewards to make running Castrum more appealing instead of how it feels now, which is the "ugh I could've had Prae" roulette sink
Make a forced delay on when you can leave and you just end up with people refusing to move and asking to be kicked more often, probably. That already happens now with people not wanting to eat the 30 minute timer.
Also, some dungeons (a lot of dungeons if the group is good) literally take like 15-20 minutes so you'd be effectively locking people in for the entire dungeon regardless of what may or may not happen - including irl stuff. Again leaving somebody as afk deadweight and requiring a kick.

If people don't want to run "x dungeon", be it Castrum Meridianum, (insert unpopular dungeon here), etc., then I doubt that would change their mind and would just lead to more issues: people would DC/force-quit to get around the timer, resulting in them being dead weights that can't be replaced without them being kicked (which can only be initiated after 5 minutes). At least in the case of Castrum, if people leave before the gate drops, the party refills almost instantly.

No. I'd rather they leave in the beginning then have to worry about the inevitable vote kick drama that normally follows when a vote kick doesn't pass. That issue, while it still happens, has slowed down significantly based on my experience.

Oh, you crossposted this. Okay. Here's my reply again.

I'd wager this will be a non-issue come 5.3. The devs are not oblivious to the unhappiness with which much of the player base regards Castrum Meridianum and the Praetorium. I will be genuinely surprised if their ARR revision todo list didn't include converting Castrum Meridianum and Praetorium into solo duties or light party dungeons.

But at any rate, it sounds like what you want to do is hold people hostage, and if you think that'll cause fewer attitude problems in the DF, you are quite mistaken.

And I'm saying that as someone who has not once in the history of the game ever left a duty at the start just because the roulette didn't put me in the duty I wanted. Forcing people to stay in a duty they don't want to do isn't going to fix anything. The people who would leave and take a 30 minute DF lockout now are the same people who have no reservations against idling at the entrance for fifteen minutes or until the party kicks them. What you ask will just increase nonparticipation.

I rarely see anyone leave either dungeon, and when they have the group just carried on. I've seen many more people complain about getting The Praetorium. Maybe you just happened to get a lot of people who didn't know what they were queueing for?

You can't force people to do dungeons they don't want to do. Holding them hostage will just make things worse for everybody. A better alternative is to increase the rewards to make it comparable to Praetorium's time-reward ratio.

It didn't make the English digest, but they did say those two dungeons are not seeing changes yet. They didn't say never, tho.

They would either AFK or demand to be vote kicked since that wouldn't incur a penalty and they could queue right back up. Forcing people to do a dungeon or raid they don't want to is about the worst way to go about things. Yes, it sucks in a dungeon if the healer bails but odds are they'll be far more of a nuisance if they're forced to stay.

I don't get why people leave Castrum. The way I see it, the primary draw of the MSQ roulette is to get poetics, and Castrum is nearly twice as fast as Prae yet gives just as many poetics. And if you're there for EXP on the side, you're really just shooting your own EXP in the foot by leaving and giving yourself a lockout.

    That being said:

Make it so that at least 15 minutes passes before a player leaves a dungeon willingly thereby discouraging a player from leaving and that have to stay and support their party instead of continously abandoning them and making them either wait for a replacement or leaving the dungeon and forcing them to requeue, in DPS instances for a long time.
Do this and people will just d/c themselves or "afk" there waiting/asking to be kicked.

Ultimately you're still not gonna be able to force people to run something they don't wanna run.

I've seen people leave from both Castrum and Prae but rarely has it led to a totally abandoned run. The instances are so easy that a light party could still comfortably do them, so usually groups just soldier on and replacements usually come fast.
