The other one is some people may like two characters look and instead of wasting money on fantasia they switch over characters.
orrrr you have a maxed character ? People need to remember, the game was around BEFORE ARR and we got to keep our characters. So, I have to disagree with you.
I have 13 reasons for having endgame alts and raiding isn't one of them. Sorry to burst your bubble but raiding isn't something that makes a lot of people happy. I could give a hoot about it personally.
Most people in FFXIV do not raid. The devs have said so. This is not a raid-centric game. And I say that as someone who will do a raid at least once just for the experience.
As for this thread, I completely agree with the OP. I’m an altaholic. In every MMO I play, I have multiple alts. Variety is the spice of life. I cannot imagine playing one character and one character only for a decade. Holy crap, that’s boring!
FFXIV should be more alt friendly, especially when games like SWTOR and GW2 - and lets be honest - pretty much every single MMO on the market today , let’s you do everything the OP listed.
Making alts is part of the MMO experience.
I am going to try again...
You don't need to understand WHY people have different playstyles. You just have to accept it.
I mean, I could also say, you're way of experience the whole game with just one char is dumb. xD
But I don't! Everyone should play the way he/she likes to. So please stop this: "There's no need for alts."
That's YOUR playstyle. And that's fine for you. But not all are the same.
I don't understand what you're discussing about in this matter.![]()
My experience is, for example, that playing as a Lalafell is a totally different game-feeling, than playing any other race. Starts with: All Lalafell are friends. That makes a huge difference...
I created a Lalafell alt. And I love it to change between my characters now. Sometimes Elezen, sometimes Lalafell. Other players are reacting totally different on each char. A few days ago my Lalafell got invited for 3 marriages, at just one day. xD
And he was giftet over 2 million Gil until know. I play him just for about 3 Weeks yet. It's much more easy to get to know new people and just have fun in game. It's an interesting experience.
Thats a way of experience the game from a different view. I like that very much. It's totally okay if some of you are happy with one. But accept that people are different, okay?
Honestly I wouldn't want to be 'always' a Lalafell. xD
So an alt is the best solution for me. I bought msq for my alt. Really didn't want to be forced to do everything again. If I want I can do newGame+.![]()
There are so many reasons why people play different. We just should accept others preferences.
And at least the system for alts in the game is not very nice at the moment. That's the point. And only that!
Let's hope that SE is going to help people who are using alts. Their game really has weak spots in this matter. Really want to be able to use my house with my alt for example. A little bit of trading would also be nice.
And for all, who play just one character: Maybe the topic of this thread isn't 'your' theme in first place. You don't have issues with that weak spot.
So I am wondering what you're doing here. :P haha
Have a nice day, all of you! <3
(sorry for bad English)
Seriously doubt that it was in their design for a few people to hoard all real state by having multiple ads and using the FC to send them money to buy the property.
I thought the real state problem was just because of too many people. Now I learn is far worse than that. Few people hoarding multiple homes on different alts.
Honestly, if they didnt make the Hrothgar, or any type of Playable Beast Race, I would have been 100% fine and happy with my Miqote here.
But since they did.....and its currently Male Only, and Im rather attached to my Female Glams...I made a Male ALT
I doubt that they dezigned it intentionally, probably just didn't really think about it or there is something on a technical level what doesn't allow them to make keeping alts more comfortable - our noodle code isn't a big secret really. Plus, it's hard to say what should be done to begin with because different people have different view on that. For instance, I can agree with the fact that things like housing and event glamours should be shareable, but quests and achievments, imo, should not. At the same time there can be people who thinks that housing should be separated and achievments should be shareable. Just as example. No, I'm talking about why SE decided to Fort Knox the concept of alts in this game, which has been a convenient non game breaking thing for the last 20yrs in MMOs, and it's especially a thing in FFXI. I have alts as well, in fact my forum account is of my alt, and it'd be great if I could transfer things between this and my main character.
I would literally give up every possibility of sharing anything with my alt for the ability to just mail stuff to her.I doubt that they dezigned it intentionally, probably just didn't really think about it or there is something on a technical level what doesn't allow them to make keeping alts more comfortable - our noodle code isn't a big secret really. Yeeeeeaaah, this one certainly could me much easier. I'm not strictly against of limiting emails to friends-only, but not being able to add alts to friend list with this limitation is kind of painful. You don't always have a 3rd person that can act as middleman.
