That's the reason I'll never understand how ppl can have the patience to level multiple alts and why I used to be a fantasia addict

This is our future. Our story.

I personally don't want to skip the story on my alts, but an easy way to share between characters would be nice.
Sure you don't need alts. I'm sick of hearing this.
We don't NEED to play this game.
We pay monthly for the ability to have alts, and something about the ease of use between characters should be done.

Let me befriend my alts so I can send mail between them. Like, seriously. People found workarounds to do this in the past, but they were all patched out. This isn't something that would affect RMT to some amazing degree, and it's a huge QoL request for those of us who like to play more than one character.

I'm not sure how it would effect RMT to any degree. RMT use multiple accounts & fc chests for anything that requires exchange. The only thing I can see them possibly using alts for would be swapping around their spam bot characters to get around blacklists/water down reports until the account itself is deactivated. This is specifically a legitimate user restriction.

How hard it is to create a FC and put all your alts in it? I don't see how that is something that is being stopped in the least by preventing your own characters from sharing a common back, being able to friend or being able to share housing and so on. Relative to selling I've made a fortune on my main and I have only 5 retainers and refuse to get more. Haven't bothered selling seriously since 4.2. I've never used my alts retainers to sell. It's a bogus argument that is used a lot on this forum.

Well for me, that's not an option as I happen to LIKE playing with my in-game friends and being part of my FC. Even if I wasn't highly ranked enough to be able to transfer items to my alt I wouldn't do this.
As for the rest, so what if you can be any job or any race on one character? I pay for 8 spaces per server and if I want to create a totally new character concept (race/name/background) and start her in a different starting city that's my prerogative. But my life doesn't need to be made more difficult because I elect to do that. Being able to friend my alt (I only have the one) and send her resources should be the very least I should be able to do. I mean, I invested the time, effort, energy, and gil already to go through the game the hard way once. Why shouldn't I have the ability to make leveling my alt and getting her the means to have a head start an option?
I disagree that we need to have everything the OP suggested. I don't mind doing the events twice for each character, though I can see how that would get cumbersome if you have more than two or three, and I enjoy story so I don't mind that either.
But the ability to send myself stuff without having to use my FC bank or a handy friend, and the ability to make my alt a resident of my main's house are perfectly reasonable. I understand that Square removed the feature to mail or friend your alts for RMT reasons, but that was also before they grew a spine about RMT people and started allowing reporting and banning more harshly. It's past time we got that feature back.

I have done this, but no one should need to make an FC just so that they can have storage. That's silly. How hard it is to create a FC and put all your alts in it? I don't see how that is something that is being stopped in the least by preventing your own characters from sharing a common back, being able to friend or being able to share housing and so on. I would like to point out, without mentioning the names, to respect FFXIV and it´s forum, that there are other games out there, which also are "single character + all classes on 1 character" , that do not punish you for having several characters and in fact, even reward you with extra event presents for doing so.
Furthermore, most of those games also have a shared bank together with the individual character bank, for easy item transfer and even sharing bound gear.
One of these games has even done a crossover with FFXIV.
It is perfectly valid, okay and respectable to not care for these features nor particularly support them, but let us not pretend like it cannot be done or it is unmovable game design.
