It seems to me you're rather interested in all the unique ways in which healing can be done in games. (In a similar way, im interested in the unique ways tanking can be done)
I looked at the different styles of DPS, and made comparable styles within tanking or healing. But in the process of this study, I came to the realization of something...
it's not something people like to hear when said, so i avoid talking about it.
But the part you'd be interested in, is that there definitely are just as many varied ways of healing/tanking, as there are ways to DPS. They will always be 1:1 equal. For every method there is to deal with an enemies Hp offensively, there is an equal opposite way to deal with saving your own HP defensively.
But the #1 thing preventing the unique ways to heal/tank, require people to let go of cliche builds/stereotypes. (And no, I dont simply just mean something as basic as melee healers, or melee casters. Though, that line of thinking is what got me going down this rabbit hole.)
But yeah, I can try to help you see where this is going. Games can be simplified down to just "Kill it, before it kills me". As well as simplified to "Survive until times up". Which both equate "Do XYZ, until time is up". There is both push and pull in MMOs/RPGs. Which is why you see hp bars pingpong back and forth, and why healers are even a role in the game. Focus on the concept of this core gameplay, and you should realize where this is all going. (Along with all the unique ways to heal)
