That was actually the example I was thinking of regarding other jobs. I was thinking of Bravely Second's Yokai job a bit as an idea, though their abilities don't really match their design, nor something that I could envision for FF14
Honestly, at this point, what's the point of a fourth Healer? It's just going to be another White Mage clone, and or they'll do what they did with Dancer i.e. take everything away from the other jobs and give those skills to the new healer so everyone will play it.
All good points.
Again, though, I don't intend to claim that it is impossible to make a Magical Melee or a Mage Tank or any other combination. I just don't consider all categories as being equally useful, due to either overly limiting what they include (and thus creating too small a roster to be worth the separate label), or too few distinctions (again, to be worth the separate label). Nor do I consider categories in general all that necessary beyond simple armor class distinctions; I'd much rather we spent more time diversifying jobs, rather than homogenizing them by role as was done in StB, only to inevitably gut the role identities, too, as was done in ShB.

Thats exactly how I feel, and why I brought that all up. By having categories of "Physical Ranged" and "Magical Ranged" We now have an issue where the creators dont want a hybrid, who's half of each, or 33/66% of each, etc. (Though I never actually stated thats my reason. But it leads down that rabbit hole, if we let the conversation go on long enough) BUT, I also brought it up, just to point out ppl werent being consistent with it.

Is there anyone expecting/wanting something other than Geomancer, Chemist, or Necromancer for the next healer job?
Anyone?

There are some people throwing their votes in with Time Mage
Please just anything except Geomancer, we do not need a Geo healer. Save it for a different role.

How about an aromatherapist? fighting with (good) scents?
Expecting? I assume Geomancer, or FF3 Devout. Both of which are referenced in some way in the current game. Necromancer was from the prior director, and not really hinted at as being a healer, but to be fair, THM was a dark/light based healer. (To be fair, there's still references to Necromancer in the current game to an extent, unless im wrong)
Chemist was the original blueprint for AST (oGCD actions to prepare another action, like mudras on a healer) yoshida originally said no to chemist (might change his mind, but dunno)
Time Mage AF is already in the game, and recolored for general healer/caster gear, so I assume AST was going to upgrade into Time Mage job, just as Musketeer was gonna become MCH, but i assume to get rid of classes, and stick to the stories they already had prepared, they got rid of the alternatives. (making 1 story, instead of 2 helps on resources) plus I think the time travel story for Alexander probably came from Time Mage job ideas, since lets be honest, who in their right mind sees Alexander and thinks, Oh, time travel! No one.
But WANTING? thats a different story. What I want would never be made, because it requires both effort, and borrowing its identity from parts of other jobs. (Ideas that should never have been implemented into their identity to begin with, if you planned to make such future jobs)

CLAIRE PENDRAGON
Thanks for helping make the FFXIV community a fun and welcoming place. If you're not sure you have (and you very likely have), make it a point to be patient or helpful the next time you log in so that you can know you've made a difference.
If you're on the Aether data center, congratulations! I might be your nextexciting adventurehealer in the Duty Finder. Please look forward to it.
