Viera & Hrothgar need access to more helmets/Hats

But somehow any semblance of Viera ear clipping through helmets/hats is a sin in FFXIV.
Not to say anything about the tail clipping through on all coats on Au ra.

Come on Square enix, let female Viera wear hats/helments, let everything clip through just like Au ra.

PS. Don't treat Viera/Hrothgar as the same race. If female Viera get helments/hats that's because they're a humanoid race, you devs warned the players that if they added beastial races they would be limited because of how hard it is to model things for them. Just add new hair to Hrothgar, that's as far as you can push a beastial race.

Or maybe the point is that SE realized it is not fine in retrospect and so are choosing to avoid making the same mistake with Hrothgar and Viera by hiding the gear with the severe clipping (though the Oldrose headpiece really isn't that bad compared to some of the other common clipping issues).

SE could go ahead and allow all headgear to be visible regardless of clipping issues and they'd get a ton of comments about how this is a crappy low budget game with the poor way things look.

Or they could have chosen not to release Viera and Hrothgar at all, which would have upset the small portion of the player base that was demanding new races but wouldn't have caused any concerns about quality.

Instead they went the middle ground - provided the new races but limited the options where the clipping problems would be extreme.

Personally, I think they should have skipped adding the races and let people whine about that instead.

As in ... Hrothgar can actually show more headgear than Viera cause the devs don't have to deal with the effery that is Viera Ears.
(Hrothgar get fully face covering buckets that can't visor cause it replaces the head.)

As for your pics, the clipping of Liz horns doesn't hold a candle to the tragic sight that is Viera wearing hoods.
Besides, we already know why Viera can't wear hats. Their ears are in the "hat" slot so that they can be customized. Unlike cats their ears are not apart of their hair, they can actually change the shape and size of them. Meaning that w/e artistic solution they come up with for "how do you make these ears not look stupid in a hat" would have to be model 4 different times (the 4 different ears they would replace) with different possible sizes.

In a new game building a new system for this would be possible ... this game aint a new game though so that's a whole lot of work. And seeing as Bunny Ears is the only thing that defines this race they clearly didn't want to go the route that would best allow for a solution to hats (As in, make them all have the same ears with zero customization like cats).

They have said more than once what they're plans are, recently they said they plan to add "helms unique" to them over time.(which I take to mean ... stuff like the Fran hair Helm? A hair style with a helm but IDK)

I'm actually genuinely curious, do you know of an actual list somewhere of what hats each race can wear vs the other? I don't know of one, but I do know there are also hats Viera can wear that Hrothgar can't. I got a pretty neat hat last night that my friend couldn't try on at all.

Hoods are a little eh but I do like the Nier hood when visored at least. Otherwise its problem isn't the ears, it's that it makes our faces look really small. I can live with that much because most hooded outfits are kinda boring or ugly anyway, and Krile's looks bad on anyone but a Lallafel period imo

When I say hat, I mean head slot item generally. But yeah I mean, we've got hoods, masks (face and eye), crowns, glasses/goggles/eyepatches, hair pins/flowers, the ribbon from achievement points, and a couple of other circlet type things so far as I've seen.

It was last night and I was half asleep when I got it so- I don't actually remember what it was. I just know it was neat and my Hrothgar friend couldn't wear it. Might've sold it but I'll see if I can track it down...

Viera with hooded robes look no different than Au ra, horns poke through. This ain't a Viera problem, this is just how the game is.

I wish more got holes frankly
I'd prefer clipping to those godawful silly ear socks, or the weird pointy extensions some armor has. Sometimes it looks good, sometimes it looks ok, but most of the time imo it looks absolutely terrible >.<
