I never understood the hate behind microtransactions in the sense people are against them but most unless it is egregious and overtly predatory in both implementation and intent do nothing expect voice concerns and disapproval. Only effective means of change is impacting the wallet, not a huge fan if cancel culture but I will not deny that such outrage that impacts profits does result in change.

In short mass voting of the wallet is the only thing that will ever cause SE to reconsider their stance on cash shops buy even then that may not do much because of players like myself that tend to buy items regularly off the cash shop.

We can complain but sometimes complaining for the sake of complaining is not healthy.

That's only when people fish around for something to complain about. Not venting when you dislike something can be equally unhealthy, and there are people who genuinely hate microtransactions.

But you know, this a forum where Final Fantasy 14 is the perfect game, Square Enix is the perfect company, and any kind of criticism whatsoever makes a person all kinds of petty and entitled.

Hm, I for one complain only about two things related to the Mogstation:

1. The prices are too high; especially for glamour that goes not to the account but the individual playable characters.

(I'm so glad I got the original Maid- / Butler-costume as well as Eastern Journey set. Having them bound to my account instead of a single character definitely makes playing with alts more fun.)

2. Stuff from the cashshop cannot be sold ingame.

(One of the small things I like about Tera is said feature. If you don't want to spend real money on a costume / mount, you still have a chance to buy it from another player with the ingame-currency)

Way I see it complaining about something without taking noticable action what is it going to accomplish? The cash shop is not going anywhere, sure one can criticize SE for having a cash shop but words alone rarely ever sway a company at that point people are simply complaining for the sake of complaining since most are not taking action regarding said complaints.

Aspects of this game I do not like, but not much I can do to change it so I have to make a choice is it worth putting up with or not? Sometimes I need to take a break because the aspects I do not enjoy about the game especially during content droughts shine through. I am an odd ball

I know you're being sarcastic in that last line there, but I'mma defend myself cause I know we're on opposing sides of the cashshop. I don't think SE is anywher near perfect, the only reason I defend the mogstation in this time period is because I've seen much much worst. As far as the shop goes we really do have it the best. No lootboxes, everything is side costumes and stuff. No pay to win crap, people aren't buying houses off the store - ESO- or a million loot boxes for one jacket -TERA!!!!!!!!- But that's how I see it anyway. It's no where near perfect, but out of all the mmos out there and some of the mmolites. Yeah.. XIV is miles ahead of them.

PSA : SE is silencing people who oppose their atrocious monatization practices. My boyfriend made this thread to make light of SE gating seasonal content in the cash shop. Last night he was banned from the forums under false pretense so that he couldn't continue voicing his concern in the forums. Many people are arguing that this seasonal mount in the cash shop isn't that bad. However, where do we draw the line for what is acceptable in a subscription game that is leaning towards a free to play model?

The amount of people shilling for SE here is worrying, not gonna lie. How about we increase the monthly subscription, make every future mount a Mog Station only item and all dyes are single use and can only be purchased for real money. I'm sure even then people would defend the game. Give them and inch and such. Some people have no common sense. /sigh

For me it's double dipping. Plain and simple.
