the buzzwords probably sounded a lot better to them when they weren't translated so we could read them. A lot of meaning vanishes when equivelent words and thrown in without the same context.

I don't know either, but catchy slogans worked for Obama. Bomb Libya without asking congress? Yes he can!"fun, live, reboot, and rebuild"
What does that even mean? When designing a game, you don't need pointless buzzwords to make it good, instead you need a strong design philosophy that progresses the genre, and you need to be confident in its implementation.
Justing aside, I'd like an answer to that as well. Where is SE trying to take this game? If they can't answer that, how do they expect to keep people interested? How are they supposed to make people watch for it "to be fixed" if they don't know what the fix really is? Is all they are doing is minor repair work to what was originally done or what?
Judging from the PAX east gameplay footage (I think it was) that I saw, yeah they've got that working.Originally Posted by gifthorse
For instance, in GW 2, you don't have to be in a party to fight alongside others, and there is no obstacle to playing with other people (such as whether you can link your leves etc). The quests and events branch out organically in a series of chain reactions depending on player's actions.
I haven't played GW 2 so I have no idea whether they achieved this, but the point is: the idea is there and it forms the basis for every one of their designs.
No one expects the miquote inquisition!!!
After playing the new tactics ogre, I think they were trying to make something like that an mmo....it didn't work
Fun = make the game more enjoyable
Reboot & Rebuild = Restructure the world of Eorzea. Creating new ideas and rebuilding some of the old ones.
Live = Do it while keeping the Servers running
There ya go!

I just want this game to be fun. =(
So far it's just been a grindfest... yeah, the main storyline is pretty intriguing. Aside from that though... I don't really have any objectives other than to level. I want other fun things to do. In XI, they had missions for obtaining higher ranks. Just little things like those were really fun, and a little different because they forced you to explore places you usually wouldn't have.
As much as I liked XI, it was super grindy. I'd be happy if FFXIV had similar traits to XI... just with less of an intense grind and more fun things to do. I guess having actual quests instead of guildleves would help. Guildleves are alright... but they should be kind of like a "daily" quest type of jawn, and not people's main means of leveling.

I feel you, I am trying to level ninja w/o ninja swords...so they're leveled up when I do unlock ninja swords. I honestly get th same vibe from ff:xiv
I think Gifthorse is saying that we need to know what direction this relationship is going, or it's breakup time.I think they need to just come out and tell us what their intentions are with the armory system, wihat their ideas for content are, and how the game will play overall, including the combat system, so we can finally just move on. The only reason we're clinging on is because we think there's potential. And SE needs to confirm or deny that for us.
Count me in on the NCSoft hate train. GW2 actually looks to be a groundbreaking game, but the fact that NCSoft is attached to it in any way, shape, or form makes it an instant dealbreaker. Customer service and NCSoft are an oxy moron. Does that company actually employ GMs....?Sort of. I wouldn't call it an NCSoft game tho. It's being developed by Arenanet who were bought by NCSoft a number of years ago but still work as the Arenanet team. Dev team is Arenanet, but customer support will be NCSoft. Arenanet have a good track record, but NCSoft's track record is appalling. From the tone of your post, I'm guessing you have the same hatred for NCSoft as I do.

NCsoft doesn't develop guild wars... nor does it employ Arenanet's staff. It just owns the company as a subsidiary.I think Gifthorse is saying that we need to know what direction this relationship is going, or it's breakup time.

But whatever, if you consider some irrational phobia of a corporation (that doesn't even develop the game) to be an instant deal breaker, then it's really only your loss.
