I can respect your opinion... but you are entirely wrong about NCsoft influencing Arena Net.

Something that it's not - and that never works.

FFXIV tried to be anti-WoW version of WoW when it should have been an improved FFXI. The new Pokemon games are a slight improvement over the old ones (better battle tower, graphics, new things like Doctor trainers that heal you when you win, etc) which made its sense of "newness" have actual value. FFXIV had a sense of newness, but killed itself by failing at everything FFXI did.

I completely agree. I really do feel like SE should've built off of FFXI's success, rather than going in an entirely different direction. Hell, as FFXI is right now it's pretty much an entirely different game that what it was when I played almost 8 years ago. lol

As a FF fan i was disappointed with parts of the game too but people should really stop posting angry, sarcasting and hateful posts. being polite and constructve with the developer will go a long way and will help making the game better.

i would rather have the FF XIVgame mechanics and all but with a completely new setting/look/races than something that looks like a FFXIV but feels unrefined and unbalanced.

Ivalice had the coolest races, hands down, and the Ivalice settings were always really beautiful. I'm not entirely sure if FF12 was Ivalice or a different "world"/"country" ... but it had some really beautiful scenery and places to explore.

I was thinking that ivalice would have actually been a really good setting for an mmo considering they have an entire timeline between 12 and tactics they could have used

Comparing this game, or any game, to Guild Wars 2 is futile, since Guild Wars 2 is not anywhere near completion (haven't even started alpha testing yet), and it may be a completely different game by the time it's finally released.
