Less people in a party doesn't actually mean less spectral procs- the rate at which spectral fish trigger a spectral current scales dynamically with the number of people on the boat. You're being hurt way more by anyone who doesn't surface slap and then wait for a !!! tug than you are by anyone who leaves early.

I'm pretty sure Surface Slap does not actually influence the odds of hooking spectral fish due to them being classified as big fish for the purposes of other skills like Identical Cast.

I don't even notice a difference when using the "right" bait for them vs. anything else, either.

I dont even understand why people are upset by people leaving. Alot of people queue as a private pf for titles which mean they arent even trying to get spectrals anyway. So if you want a spectral, these people arent hunting for it in the first place. Alot of the times if we dont need fish in a certain area we just afk. You have it backwards, if youre going to be upset, you should be upset that title people are in your boat. People queue with different expectations for what they need. If someone just needs a 5 star, i dont blame them for leaving, they didnt get what they wanted so they leave and not waste more of their time.

has anyone confirmed that it scales dynamically, I have only seen stories where solo players get triple current.

Square Enix have not. Anything else is speculation really based on good or bad luck.

I have two CWLs that have worked on this and it seems to be rather true.
You still need to get and hook a spectral fish, mind you. The bite rates don’t seem to change from what I’ve been told. But the chance of it triggering the current goes way up.

so.. why dont you just leave then aswell? if spec didnt pop in the beginning, you wont get a high score either, lol

So the point of this thread is " I'm mad people are trying for a high score and when the first third of the rng on rng in rng system is bad people should just suffer through the rest because I'm mad."
