Looks at fates you can solo all but 30 min fate with adjustments made. I am an 80 fish. I haven't gotten around to doing this content, but I'm not worried.

I'm kinda sure that the spectral pop rate scales with the number of people on the boat. When I'm alone or with 1 or 2 people it almost always pops when one spectral fish gets caught, sometimes it requires 2 catches. While when being on a full ship I can have 5 or 6 catches across my party, without anything happening

that said: having people leave the ship probably doesnt hurt you, because the spectral pop rate per catch might just increase

I still don't believe square has bothered to do something like that, it will reamain the same chance which you had when the instance began and then there is even less of a chance to spawn anything if people leave.

from my experience, I get spectrals pops on empty boats at least as often as on full boats, so I dont see any problem with people leaving

yes but were they empty at the beginning or did 23 people leave and then you still got spectrals?
