This is not a one-shot mechanic. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills reading this thread.

A one-shot mechanic will kill you (everyone) in one hit. Not only have I never seen everyone die to this at once, I also got smacked with one of the effects (as a DD not a tank) but not both and easily got healed up by other people and didn't die. That is, at the very least, a mechanic that requires two "shots" to do you in.

One-shot mechanics in other fights are like failing Landslides on Titan - you mess up the mechanic and you fall off the arena, knocking you out in one hit, one failure on your part.

Just chiming in to say I freakin LOVE that mechanic! It's sick! Even trying to explain it in a PUG is a bit of a challenge. Kind of like Starboard/Larboard, it'll wreck PUGs for a bit, but eventually peeps will get it down, or the higher ilv will allow them to survive it (assuming they don't get knocked off the edge by it as well).

One shots only need to kill one player. A mechanic that wipes everyone is a reset. Either way, that mechanic will indeed one shot someone at the minimum ilv requirement, and it most certainly will if you have a vuln down debuff. It also causes knockback, and can toss you over the ledge. One shot.

I probably should have been more clear with "everyone," maybe I meant "anyone?" I meant that even if you are a tank such a mechanic will still kill you, not that it has to wipe everyone at once.

I'm still pretty sure I've not been killed in one hit by this attack though. I have only been hit with a bunch of damage and received a Vulnerability Up stack, just as the OP is asking that it do instead.

So right now I'm stuck on E7. Just watched a guide on it as well before entering. The raid is fun minus one mechanic and its just frustrating and not fun for normal.

The raid does fine till we get to the light/dark phase combined with the portals. But when the 2nd wave comes through the portal, half of the raid is dead and we can never recover. The group is usually saying they cannot react fast enough while trying to think where they need to stand for the light/dark wave to come through the portals.

It's a little frustrating at this point as I just spend 60 minutes wiping on it. I don't understand why a one shot mechanic is even put into this. Why couldn't it be a vul stack like it normally is when a mechanic is not done correctly.

I can see one shot mechanics in Savage but this is the first time I can remember being frustrated over a normal raid.

I'm thinking once I finally clear this to just avoid the fight all together.

Thank you for taking to time to listen to my rant. I would like to personally see it change from a one shot mechanic to a vul stack but how do you feel about it? Seems too punishing for a fast reacting mechanic.

I honestly don't even know where to start with this rubbish post. People like yourself are the reason we keep getting boring content. I came back to the game after not playing for 6 months. I play from Australia, on NA, on 270'ish ping. Went into the fight blind, and we cleared in 2-3 pulls. There is PLENTY of time to dodge the mechanic. PLENTY.

The raids are OPTIONAL content. Normal AND savage. Sorry but if something this basic is too much for you handle, just don't do it. And if that mechanic is too much for you to handle, you can join the roleplayers in the major cities and live your life in Eorzea out there.

This isn't even a hard fight. I'm legit confused at what's difficult. Look at where the first sin eater goes. Stand on opposite portal. If it goes through red first, stand on blue and vise versa. If you're doing colored part, then all you need to do is see where umbral/astral is going to go by seeing where your designated sin eater is going. Wherever it goes, you stand on opposite. It's very straightforward.

It was killing our tanks in one hit so I'm not sure how you were surviving it.

As for the thread... more challenge outside of savage/extreme is welcome by me. There isn't enough content that is between the difficulty of 24-man raids and Extremes.

Hmm...so maybe I am taking crazy pills. I was sure I got hit by one of the opposite polarity, the debuff switched like it's supposed to, and then I took a hit from the same polarity, resulting in very low HP and one stack of Vulnerability Up.

If it kills tanks in one hit, rather than in two, then either something else was going on or I just can't remember it right.

Not really sure what happened if someone was getting one shot there. I just did the fight on SAM and was hit while cleanly surviving. Maybe if you get hit by multiple streams in a short time frame or something (but then that's not a one shot either *shrug*).

Either way, I loved the fight and actually look forward to doing it again, unlike Ramuh and Ifruda. It's the sort of fight that feels like you're just scraping by right now but will end up feeling absolutely masterful once you know it. Just a super solid and fun fight that I found to be one of the best I've come across in the game in a very long time. Totally hit that "harder than a Normal trial but easier than Savage" difficulty level (for scrubs like me at least).

From my experience, it's not a true one-shot mechanic, but it definitely hurts. I think if peeps are at max HP and taking a one hit KO, they likely got healed to full after getting a vuln^ stack. I can't recall if I've seen tanks getting one shotted by it. Doubtful since I think the attack hits for around 70k. Peeps just get confused about which portal is safe to stand in front of. Especially when everything is stacked and you also have to worry about the umbral/astral switch, which seem to be what gets most players.

OF is a meme and it's too grey to be helped. So I'm not going to try anymore.
