People go to lightshows intentionally, people standing next to someone uselessly, and annoyingly, spamming holy in a city probably isn't intentional.

And I shouldn't have to mute everyone else's sound effects and turn off everyone else's spell effects just because of ONE person.

Someone on the development team that gives GMs the “OK” to ban for stupid crap like this, seriously needs to re evaluate how they handle situations like that.

I dunno about that, seems pretty clear-cut to me that they got what they deserved. If they didn't want to potentially get banned they shouldn't have done something as stupid as spamming holy, uselessly and without actual merit, in a city.

I mean. The reason crafting was brought into this. The GM said it was "spamming the chat log" Crafting does exactly that. By the EXACT SAME DEFINITION the GM used in this case, it covers people who spam craft/meld. Your opinion is that. Others is that TOS is TOS. So I mean. TOS is TOS. So if I am in a part of Limsa with no one else, and you come in while I am already casting holy for my own enjoyment, Am I now spamming because my intent was my fun on my own? I'm sorry but using abilities is not spam, its not harassment unless you explicitly follow someone around doing it. Your logic makes 0 sense. And "Spam is spam" per the GM.

Yes, but the only RL comparison you could make is. Someone on a public street started playing music and turning a flash light on and off. This wouldn't be harassment. This wouldn't be illegal. If you called the cops they would tell you to just leave the area.

Poor allegory because some officers could arrest the person for disturbing the peace or noise violations. While they should just tell the person to move on that's not always what happens sadly.
