I would be happy for them to go as far as making a character invisible to me if I blacklisted them.If SE do implement this, what stops people from demanding similar things in other areas of the game.
Dont like a certain race? toggle for that.
Dont like certain minions? toggle for that.
Plenty of immersion breaking mounts that can fly but shouldnt be able to, toggle for that?
Where would it end and if your thinking "well do this one thing then just say no to the rest" then that would be kinda unfair would it not?
Im not saying thats what would actually happen and i dont really care about this request since it wont affect me. Im merely curious about the consequences should SE agree to add this.
But really, in terms of what the OP brought up, if such an appearance blocking feature just "greyed" out the blocked person, their mount and their minions, it could do all that wholesale anyway and perhaps with selective control over how far to go.
As an aside, they do factor in how people receive certain glamours when designing them, which came up when Yoshi P was explaining the considerations they have in mind when deciding whether to remove certain gender locks; the upshot of that is that these issues become less controversial if you can simply hide appearances you don't like.
When the game's story becomes self-aware:
Indeed! And it is putting some measure of control back into the hands of a player if they don't like how you're presenting yourself to them. You are unaffected, other than for the fact that you can't force them to look at whatever appearance it is you concocted. Really, this is delving into not being able to control what others are seeing and that is not something anyone is entitled to.

To me that line reads more like deflecting, the bikini option has been around for a while the thing that's happening now is the men in wedding dresses option which lines up with the "It's time" title of the thread. You apparently missed the part where OP mentioned catgirls in string bikinis as one of the things she finds distasteful, but sure, go ahead and assume everyone who supports this option is just prejudiced. Maybe try not to generalize a large portion of a forum post based off of one post.
Next the op also frames anyone that reads their post this way as a "troglodyte" while almost defensively trying to deflect further by asserting that players wearing whatever they like breaks the "theme and feel" of a final fantasy game when really, particularly with the more modern installations, FF characters wear what suits them regardless of their role in the party.
Let's be honest, this doesn't pan out.As an aside, they do factor in how people receive certain glamours when designing them, which came up when Yoshi P was explaining the considerations they have in mind when deciding whether to remove certain gender locks; the upshot of that is that these issues become less controversial if you can simply hide appearances you don't like.
What actually would happen is that the people complaining about stuff like men being able to wear skimpy clothes/dresses/etc will still complain, it's just in that situation they'd be complaining about how it's unfair that they "have to turn on the glamour block".
So you're trying to deny that people may actually want to also block out the scantily clad females? What does it even matter, in the end? Some of us do think men look stupid in female outfits mostly, and yes, I also tend to find the bikini glams overwrought and dull. So what? It's a matter of my own personal taste. One may call it "prejudiced" and to be frank, I care not one whit if they do. It's just some word they throw around whenever people find what they do silly or contrary to their own tastes. Not like anyone is forcing you not to use the glams you prefer using. Tolerating others does not mean I have to be forced to look at their glams, now does it?

When the game's story becomes self-aware:
Mage gear almost invariably loses pants on the female version.
Lv50 Summoner loses the pants under a skirt I would otherwise really like to wear.
Lv50 WHM gets frilly underwear instead of what were admittedly short shorts on the male version
LvEverything SCH gets miniskirts instead of pants
Lv50 Bard loses the entire shirt under the vest
Lv50 DRG.... you've probably seen. NIN is similar.
Lv60 Summoner has a loincloth for both genders
Lv60 WHM again loses the pants under the skirt
LV60 BRD has a gaping front that shows more on females than males, and loses an entire leg off the pants
Lv70 WHM gets fancy underwear instead of full pants on men, plus that horrendous fan collar
Lv70 AST gets an awkward-looking dress instead of the nice male tunic
Lv70/80 BRD gets short shorts instead of (really pretty) pants
This probably isn't even a complete list.
People have been requesting this sort of feature to be added for the game for quite some time. For various reasons. It's also perfectly acceptable for people to dislike particular aesthetics without it being a case of discrimination.
It also isn't necessarily something that stems from homophobia, either. I like looking at men. I dress my character in revealing outfits from time to time - the coliseum set is a favourite of mine - but I loathe the idea of dressing him in an actual dress. It doesn't appeal to me in any way, shape or form.
Though as mentioned earlier, that isn't why I support this feature. I support it because the likes of the frog suit and pig suit. I'd love the ability to disable them entirely on my screen.
I'm also a firm advocate of more choices across the board. Which means actually giving people more choices across the board. Within reason, of course - but that also means that people should be able to opt out of some things if they so wish.
Whilst i understand your viewpoint its also important to point out that this request would be the tip of a massive iceberg where allowing people to decide what they want to see as oppose to what is there may not work out so well in the end.
Alot of people have alot of different likes and dislikes so who decides whom to please and whom to not?
Then there is also the fact that part of the gaming world is the ability to show off the things you have as a means of "bragging" if you will, anything from good looking characters/glamour to hard to obtain mounts/minions serve the purpose to not only be pretty to look at but also for other people to be awed by. Should we implement a system that allows things like that to be hidden then i feel its a very risky step to take.
So once again, whilst i see nothing wrong in this request, i do wonder if it would be as easy as people think for SE to stick to this one thing and nothing more.
Again, it is possibly something you could do on a modular level. As to whether people want to brag to others, in the end they have no control over how that will be received regardless of whether such a feature exists or not and it usually consists in parking a mount or whatever somewhere and screenshotting it, so there's no loss in that respect. Personally, it's not something I'd envision using much except for stuff that looks really dumb. Such a feature puts it into the player's hands to decide if they like something or not.
