If I genuinely believed for even one second the majority of people wanting this feature genuinely just wanted immersion or whatever, then fine. But they don't. The majority are bothered by the breaking of gender norms. We saw the same thing with the bunny girl outfit being made unisex. They use the idea of immersion to hide their prejudice.
You apparently missed the part where OP mentioned catgirls in string bikinis as one of the things she finds distasteful, but sure, go ahead and assume everyone who supports this option is just prejudiced. Maybe try not to generalize a large portion of a forum post based off of one post.

To me that line reads more like deflecting, the bikini option has been around for a while the thing that's happening now is the men in wedding dresses option which lines up with the "It's time" title of the thread.

Next the op also frames anyone that reads their post this way as a "troglodyte" while almost defensively trying to deflect further by asserting that players wearing whatever they like breaks the "theme and feel" of a final fantasy game when really, particularly with the more modern installations, FF characters wear what suits them regardless of their role in the party.

People have been requesting this sort of feature to be added for the game for quite some time. For various reasons. It's also perfectly acceptable for people to dislike particular aesthetics without it being a case of discrimination.

It also isn't necessarily something that stems from homophobia, either. I like looking at men. I dress my character in revealing outfits from time to time - the coliseum set is a favourite of mine - but I loathe the idea of dressing him in an actual dress. It doesn't appeal to me in any way, shape or form.

Though as mentioned earlier, that isn't why I support this feature. I support it because the likes of the frog suit and pig suit. I'd love the ability to disable them entirely on my screen.

I'm also a firm advocate of more choices across the board. Which means actually giving people more choices across the board. Within reason, of course - but that also means that people should be able to opt out of some things if they so wish.

Some people having different tastes does not make them "troglodytes", its subjective and everyone likes and do not like different things, we have players from around the world and in some cultures a man wearing thongs or high heels is not appreciated to say the least.

You may need to re-read, the people being accused of being troglodytes are those read the OP as complaining about men wearing dresses.

The two interpretations are mutually exclusive. You can't support both versions of whose choice is more important.

Still would not be happy, no - there are things I don't want for either gender.

Editing in this one response, but I won't keep doing it:

Because, as I said, they are mutually exclusive.

If the choice should lie with the player over how their character appears, the viewer doesn't get a choice about how they see that character.

If the choice should lie with the viewer over how they see the character, the player has no choice about how their character appears to that viewer.

You cannot have both at once.
