Mage gear almost invariably loses pants on the female version.
Lv50 Summoner loses the pants under a skirt I would otherwise really like to wear.
Lv50 WHM gets frilly underwear instead of what were admittedly short shorts on the male version
LvEverything SCH gets miniskirts instead of pants
Lv50 Bard loses the entire shirt under the vest
Lv50 DRG.... you've probably seen. NIN is similar.
Lv60 Summoner has a loincloth for both genders
Lv60 WHM again loses the pants under the skirt
LV60 BRD has a gaping front that shows more on females than males, and loses an entire leg off the pants
Lv70 WHM gets fancy underwear instead of full pants on men, plus that horrendous fan collar
Lv70 AST gets an awkward-looking dress instead of the nice male tunic
Lv70/80 BRD gets short shorts instead of (really pretty) pants
This probably isn't even a complete list.

Yeah I gotta say, and this is a liiil off topic maybe, but I really wish they'd stop giving the female versions skirts instead of pants so often. Ofc I absolutely love the shorts 80 BRD gets, but still. A lot of the healer outfits in particular are really just a slot taken up for me because they look pretty eh with just about everything - the skirts don't even have a great shape to them, imo.
I still don't really feel strongly either way about having this kind of option to hide gear, but I'll also say again that people would probably end up surrounded by just as many 'silly' glamours purely because of everything being completely mismatched, and heavens know SE's resources seem to be tucked into a nice tight purse right now so idk if slapping everyone in job gear is even feasible for them at this point :P

What if they were to go back and design them so they are all truly gender neutral? We'll get rid of all of the women's versions of those items and keep them straight as the male version for every single one of them. That should solve your problem with this plan, right?
