Yeah there's a difference between accidentally falling in love at work, which sucks but happens often, and intentionally flirting with all your clients. The second is called sexual harrassment, and indeed in the lighter acception you stop doing business with them. And he's the leader of an important guild, not say a baker.

In fairness, being a guildmaster is probably information that would've been important going into it. Can't really blame any of them bringing in a bad idea if they don't have all the information.

The thing is: He's a Lancer. A tutor a ka a guild-leader, yet still a Lancer. Do you really find it acceptable to judge his situation as if he was sitting in an office as the highest instance a ka boss...?

Or, let's make my question more comprehensible: Would you hold up a pitchfork because a florist or worker at a supermarket are getting closer to their customers?

Plus, would you behead any fanfiction-writers / RP-players for shipping their adventurers with any of the tutors? Because: Don't forget, the playable characters are customers / students of the tutors, strictly speaking.

He is of a higher rank thus he should be careful on who he flirts with. Its not like he just goes on with his life and maybe find some love..Astrids advice seems to me like he should just flirt with a couple of clients (again not co-workers..) and this is shown when she just let him flirt with a married woman..also he seemingly had not interest in her so how would he truly find love if he does not even have someone in mind?

Fanfiction is a whole different thing. Its meant to be the space where you post all your ideas and wishes..which is why you find a lot of stuff there that would never make it to any story. Or would you say that its also normal to have incest and things like that in a game story just because people post fanfictions about it?

Shes 14 - obviously still by far not old enough to date him, but that wasnt the intention of Rods suggestion nor of her action, which both aim at "improve and know yourself before you start hitting on people".

Hes not getting taken away by a child to make out with her nor was that ever suggested - she swoops him away to prevent the whole grotto to smell as bad as he seems to...

I finally did the second quest today. It's even worse than I thought.
Not only he flirts with a married woman, but he knows perfectly well being married! This paints his character in a really bad light.
Even leaving aside how bad Astrid is for all of this, and wassname for basically saying the best marriages are the abusive ones, they completely ruined a canonical important character.
Luckily Geva decided to take it as a joke or I'm sure it would have ended very badly, especially knowing her.

Its not like this is his partner. She is just someone that wants to help him by giving him some advice. (Like taking care of yourself) I did not see that as him dating a little girl (and I doubt SE would create such a quest). At least he is in nice hands there and may find out more about presenting himself. With Astrid he is in the hands of someone that dont even call their helpers by their name and sent them out on deathly missions.

I certainly get that people wanted more variety in the winners or for xyz to win. I just don’t get all the hate for Astrid’s plan. None of the plans were that detailed, and to me they all seemed about the same level of good/bad. I mean we can constantly whip out or tomestone like a smartphone. Why didn’t someone tell him to get on Eorzean Tinder and start swiping right?

Adults spend many hours at work and there are very natural and non-harmful ways for a romantic relationship to evolve in the workplace. Of course, there are also inappropriate scenarios as well. However, if our guy is the type to harass or make unwanted advances at work then he is going to behave the same in the other scenarios as well. A Creeper is going to creep after all, but Ywain doesn’t seem that type.
