Well, I certainly hope it bites me back! That may give me that kick I need to get back to work on this! I have all the raw mats and materia VII and VIII lying around in retainer. I just have no incentive to make them. But if I need them, I'll finish the whole set with melds in a day. So no worries, I'm not stupid enough to start gathering mats for facet gear in 5.2 when their prices go sky high. I do hope that the ingots/lumbers will be synthesized in DOUBLED with the same amount of raw mats though when 5.2 comes. Isn't that how it was in Stormblood?

However, I do plan to take on the 5.2 recipes on my white gear first (if recipe minimum stats allows it). This will give me some challenges and fun.

She is the one who wrote the crafting guide that most of us read afterall.
That is actually the plan... If I do need a bit more stats, I'll squeeze it out of somewhere, like a piece or two of facet! I know I can!

If we're following current trend, we won't even need an overmelded Facet set and prices will crash before even a week is over anyway. That's why we have less motivation, why bother putting in extra effort when it gives no reward? What are you missing out on?

Everything is riding on these "Expert" recipes.
You're right too. If I need a full facet set, I'll get a full facet set with full melds within a day. I am fully prepared. But for now, I'll take on whatever comes at me in 5.2 with my white gear!

Actually, I have to defend NanaWiloh... NanaWiloh isn't wrong here. I have met some crafters on my server before, and actually they were indeed after the gil the fame the notoriety (there are still some that ARE currently)! But now are they "hardcore crafters"? Yeah, I guess you can define them as hardcore crafters when you see their names frequently on over 10,000 items of the highest level recipes on the marketboard. They're really hardcore on PRODUCTION! Factory-mode! Now you can say, "well, high production does not necessarily mean after gil/fame, right?" ... You could be right. But I actually talked to one of them, and he/she actually admitted to me that he/she just wanted to dominate the marketboard, and wanna be the wealthiest of all... I thought that was rather shallow, so I have not talked to him/her much after.

You can surely call them hardcore crafters. But I think some others here may refer hardcore crafters as those who just likes to take on challenges and have fun. I am definitely one of those in the latter category.

I hope it bites back for you I would love to see the crafting system appeal to hardcore and casuals equally without stepping on eachothers toes.

Just a note, but this isn't really such a bad thing, and fits perfectly into Bartle's Taxonomy of players. Some players just enjoy dominating other players. It's like PvP, but you're killing them where it really hurts: the wallet.

Exactly. Personally, I see no issue with someone choosing to play the game that way.

I think this is where a lot on contention between casuals and hardcore crafters lie. As a casual I'd much rather the new expert crafts be "PvE" only as I feel being able to buy the rewards from the new expert crafts with gil MASSIVELY reduces any interest in wanting to craft them for myself. I'd much rather none of the materials or crafts from the new expert crafts be available on the MB the same way you can't get Ultimate raid gear on the MB.

Please make it something I can spend the next couple of months working on as a gatherer and crafter but PLEASE don't make it so people who are too lazy to gather and craft for themselves get just because they have a bunch of gil.

Expert Recipes were not intended for casual players though. This is exactly what I’m talking about, lol. Casual players are so used to always getting content, whereas hardcore players are only now starting to get content.

Class potions are alright. Though I wish to not see Craft or Gatherer jump potions in the game. Goal of the MMO is to slowly work your way towards your goal, pay for the journey, not the destination.
