I think someone has the same idea as me when I started crafting back in 2013. You really reminded me of my hype about my favorite game of crafting.

Currently, crafting is really on the easy end of the spectrum... I mean, I am just using all my white gear (i430), and is macroing all the hardest recipe in game. It is boring, and I can't even get the incentive to craft one facet gear since I don't need it. But they did promise us more challenges in 5.2. We shall see about that. I hope that'll give me the kick I need to submerge myself in my crafting game again.

Honestly, with how insanely fast leveling DoL is now, they might as well just have skip potions so they can make money off of extra lazy people.

I'm thankful they at least have the MSQ/expansion walls in place to deter people from making alt account bots to farm with because I've been seeing a lot of MSQ/job-skipped ones basically doing 1-80 overnight on each of the DoL classes regardless and it's liable to get even faster with the gatherer turn-ins coming in 5.2.

I can only assume some people are bracing for the Restoration rankings because having DoL bots constamty feeding a collectable spamming DoH materials is going to leave all of the legitimate players in the dust.

Have to agree wholeheartedly with you Caimie.

Here's hoping for 5.2 adding some challenges

Oh I expect they will! They've been teasing quite a bit about all the things being added to the restoration, and with their second overhaul on the system in as many patches, they're probably going to be adding back some of the difficulty veteran crafters have been complaining about being gone from the first one. Though I kind of hope they don't touch the early levels too much with it. I made a bunch of leveling macros for folks, and some of them play on ps4 where inputting those things is a royal pain. I'd hate for them to have to start all over.

Got a feeling your choice to not craft Facter gear is going to come back to bite you hard when 5.2 drops. The expert recipes without a doubt will not be aimed at someone in i430 as the would kinda of be going backwards, I will not be surprised if 3 star gear is needed to start working on expert recipes.

Note: Taking advice from a players alt, is like taking advice from a voice in a dark room. Criticism is a two way street remember that!!

I completely agree that we'll need the new sets before we can do the new recipes, but I'd say there's a moderate chance that a 430 crafter could probably squeak out the new set if they had really good food, melds, and all HQ mats. I remember sweating my way through that in HW and SB when upgrading that first time after hitting 60/70. Of course, with the changes going on it's all up in the air and I could be totally wrong lol, but if all else fails a person can craft a Facet piece or two and meld it to give them the bump needed to get the first piece or two of the new gear. It'd be crafting and melding one thing at a time instead of all at once, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

The rewards for completing Expert recipes should be crafting gear, tools, or a way to earn gil. Otherwise, most ( hardcore) players, myself included, won’t even bother doing them. If it’s glam, minions, mounts, and titles (arguably the most useless things in a crafter’s arsenal) then it’s actually quite insulting.

But who am I kidding, it’s Yoshida we’re talking about lol. Of course it’ll be minions, mounts, and a title. I understand not wanting players to feel left out, but at least be reasonable when implementing features aimed towards hardcore players.

Considering the rewards for Ultimate are just a title and a fancy weapon with a slight upgrade in stats, I'm surprised you're expecting the rewards for crafting to be more dramatic.

It's already easy it is to earn large amounts of gil through normal crafting, I don't see gil as a reward for completing expert recipes. The last thing this game needs is more gil sources when we lack ways to spend the gil we're already earning. What would be interesting is if unique rewards we could purchase with gil we've already earned could only be unlocked by completing Expert recipes.

I expect the advanced stages of the DoH Skysteel tools to require Expert recipes. They haven't talked about any special gear other than the tools so I doubt there will be any.

Just because you personally don't care about glamours, titles and the other things doesn't mean you can speak for all hardcore crafters. Different players want different things and many will enjoy having a visible way to demonstrate their crafting expertise.

I suspect you're going to end up disappointed regardless of what we get in the patch because what you want isn't realistic for the modern MMO environment.

glam mounts minions titles are the name of the game here when it doesn't come to PVE weapons. you basically want "raid" type crafting MH/OH. which will only make things easier for you. you say you want gil but you already claim to have billions so what would be the point to have more? don't be another shalice icefrost and complain about the gil cap.

You know what? I can’t argue with anything you have said, lol. You’re absolutely right.
