    From what I saw people discussing, there’s actually a decent chance that Noct Ast might dethrone Sch instead of Whm if the former received buffs in the right places. There were talks about Whm/Ast comps on several Discords and it kinda piqued my interest, so maybe this info would be of interest to some of you.

    To be fair, this happened because the dev team still hasn't realized their design philosophy doesn't work. A burst healer means nothing in a game where burst healing isn't required. Scholar and Astro dominance occurred because they brought more utility. That being said, FFlogs played a pretty significant factor in this as well. Before selfish jobs were basically a direct hindrance to your parse. With the shift to rDPS, that is no longer the case. So White Mage wouldn't be nearly as ostracized.

    I will say though, it really isn't fair Astro has to work significantly harder to achieve barely more than White Mage with two buttons.

    By the current standings, AST+SCH still has a notable lead over AST+WHM. But it's definitely a lot closer than it was in expansions past. Buffs to Noct AST and only Noct AST could potentially do it. General buffs to AST, well... probably wouldn't affect much on the relative rankings, besides pushing AST closer to mandatory.

    Now see that's the kind of mentality that doesn't surprise me. In my years of playing I'd probably had 1 person get cranky because I didn't use balance 24/7. Its that kind of mind set that has destroyed the fun out of the healers.

    SE is pretty infamous for ignoring healer issues and just patching the problem by making the job op until the next expansion. They've did this in every instance so far, I don't see them changing this now. Apparently it's easier for them to just give up on healers and toss a bone at the complaints.

    Meanwhile DPS jobs like Ninja get a complete overhaul mid expansion.
    Being a healer in this game with a dev that doesn't seem to care for them at all is really unfortunate.

    My biggest issue with the class is, by far, sleeve draw. Personally, and I know this is an unpopular opinion, I'm okay with every card being damage, doesn't mean I think it's right or that it's fair, but I could personally live with that. Sleeve draw alone ruins the class for me because I cannot wrap my head around having to swap targets 3 times in a single weave window, and god forbid you need to do anything like use Earthly star or something in your opener. I certainly think, even without that, it's a downgrade from SB, but I could live with it, at least for the time being, but the amount of target swapping is just downright ridiculous and ruins the class for me.

    Unfortunately devs don't really care all that much about prefecting healer rotations, openers, and such, the player base that takes such to heart is significantly minor. So far actually really like ast now, pretty much dropped sch for it, not sure if it actually needs any buffs though feels pretty alright as is.

    this. they dumb everyhting down for "accessibility" but made ast opener and reopener horrible especially on controller. even things like the party UI get in the way cuz theres no way to track who already has a card and how long it lasts, so you also have to scroll and see who has what. That along with gcd uptime and mechanics make sleeve draw a nightmare to use

    if anything i just want the old card system back so i never have to manually target anyone for cards ever again (just cycle the initial 6 cards in random order and balance fishing is gone ffs)
