Hm, I had a real hard time to read what the topic creator mentioned with the huge post. IMO, it makes the more verbose FFXIV Youtube guides look more reasonable in length (and that's me being generous.)
After reading the other comments, here's my 2 cents.
All the content in this game is not for everyone. People do different duties for rewards, for glamour, for fun, for the thrills of combat, for practice, for achievements, etc.
Blue Mage ain't for everyone, but does provide a somewhat creative way of revisiting older content for those who want to test their mettle in battle.

I don't BLU but I have friends who do, and they are enjoying it. I've unlocked DNC and GNB but not played them so far; again several friends have switched to one or the other as their main, and they are happy with them. I have a Viera alt just about to finish 2.0 and I've very much enjoyed her so far, she certainly hasn't felt half-baked as you put it. I feel as though most headgear would look ridiculous on her so I'm happy with the limited headgear. I also like the hairstyle she has.
My point being issues that you have with certain aspects of the game are personal to you. They are not FACTS. In your opinion certain things are half baked but as the thread has shown, others disagree. I have issues with the game - I would like less dungeons and instanced content and more stuff like Eureka (but with level sync pls!) so that I can do things in an open world environment with plenty of others around. In MY opinion, this was fun - but I don't present my issues as FACT since they're a consequence of my personal preferences
The choices that you're offering me, OP, make no sense whatsoever
Not going to read the whole 7 pages but I agree with you OP. Going into this expansion as a healer had me pissed off and now that I really love Viera I'm even more pissed off at the lack of customization available. GNB weapons are super disappointing too. The story was cool but I only want to experience that once whereas the problems with gameplay for healers and customization lacking for Viera is a constant, reoccurring, GLARING issue. I've been so disappointed with this expansion so far and I log out every day praying it gets better.
I don’t know how this would provide much longevity. Especially if you’re talking about previous relics, because not everyone even tries to complete those when they’re relevant. Much less when they’re older. Besides, the grinds of the old relics get EASIER and FASTER to do the older the content is. Completing an ARR or HW relic now can be done in a couple afternoons, if not a single day if one really wants to grind it out. Same with the Eureka relics.
Relics tend to have more grind to them anyways when they’re first introduced. You just can’t make it too grindy or too insane; because then people complain (see: OG Atma step and unnerfed HW Unidentifiable Step).
It’s one thing to have a grind, but to give content the longevity you said you wanted in another post (beyond a current expansion), you’d have to make it insane; and that would put off a lot of people. Plus, asking to grind FATEs is incredibly unoriginal and monotonous. There’s a lot of players that would rather do anything else but that, including myself.
See above.
I’ve grinded for things before—case in point, I have the Whisper A-Go-Go Mount from the first round of the Yokai event—but I would not do an “insane grind” of something like FATEs just for a relic skin when I can just use other glamour options, like my Ultimate weapons, instead. Speaking personally.

In general I really wished they would give us more stuff for casuals (and yes even casual content can be a grind) and less content for a niche part of the game. I am fine with stuff like savage and Ultimate but I really get the feeling that we are getting more and more stuff that is only there for a very small amount of players while the casual part of the game looses content.
We get less dungeons which may not be content that everyone enjoys but that can be played by anyone, even those that dont have much time. Each dungeon gives you tomestones and gear, has a bit of lore, music and other stuff to collect. And together with the trusts this now can also be purely enjoyed solo. Yet we get less and less on this.
Glamour is either reused or if its new and cool its put behind grinds but at least that is still kinda fine..but mounts..a lot of mounts that are wanted by the community is put behind niche content in the very hopes that people will play it..Decide SE...if you create niche content then accept that only a few will do it..and these few will do it out of fun. Dont "force" the rest of us in this by putting stuff that we wanted for a long time behind it...and whoever thought about Morbol behind savage blue content: Thank you! It will totally be a great incentive for the casual players to get all the skills and learn a savage fight! (And yes that is sarcasm) Why not lock it behind getting all the spells? Or doing the whole carneval? Or buying it for hunting marks? That would at least incentive me for going for it. But that? No thank you.
In the end the only real casual content we got were the two deep dungeons. They can be done not only solo but you can also queue up with friends or strangers. Everything in the casuals floors is easy and its a great way to test out jobs, level them and get tomestones on top of that. It has quite some rewards and its at least for me fun.
Even Diadem and its other version was still a bit for casuals but less easy to do it because you always needed a party (even if you had a FC ship). You get at least a bit out of it and can work towards the mounts slowly.
Yet when Diadem still failed they thought that they had to put a huge amount of work behind a whole expansion wide content that is again only played by a niche amount and who knows how many of those even enjoyed it..(especially when you put the relic behind it which will surely inflate these numbers further) This content is again only for the hardcore players. Death penality, bad to play with friends, hard to find groups. Other than tomestones you dont get much out of it (cant level jobs with that) and the time to grind it all is too much.
Please SE. Give us something more like the palace and HoH. Something which can be done by someone even with not much time per day and they would still get progress. Something which is fun and a bit grindy but not where you have to put in an unholy amount of time..(if you even find a group) And if it gives people benefits like leveling jobs then they will even use it long after it was released..
Short version: More casual stuff less niche stuff. Especially if you are already at your limit of developing stuff.
Yeah, I was half expecting this answer - mainly because I dont think that the relic weapons in ARR and HW were a good solution to the problem you're describing. They didnt add longevity to dungeons, FATEs, trials etc.
They brought those contents back from the dead again and again with each new step and me personally to a point where I dont ever want to see SV HM or TamTara HM ever again. While I prefered the style of the old relic-quests over Eureka, there is no way to deny that those quests took a lot less effort to develop - and that it left me after each patch with a relic-update with the feeling off "Ah, yes, wonderful - this dungeon again..."
And, as with the relic-weapons and with every drop you can currently get from a dungeon: After people are done with this, the content wont be touched by them again. And if you actually want to make them come back to Cosmos for half a year it would require a pretty, pretty bad grind - and I'm not sure if this midcore-casual-audience you want more content for is also the audience to tell: "Get 999 drops from the last boss of this dungeon to turn in for a pink glow for your weapon".
Everyone can say and bring all the hyperbole and gibberish to this thread all they want, the facts remain 100% no question.
The quality and now obvious quantity of this game is starting to diminish.
The issues with GNB and DNC to me were noticable instantly, so to me they are very obvious. Anyone playing this game for any extended period of time is going to notice the decline in quality.
Now, as mentioned, very clearly, by Square-Enix themselves, the quantity is diminishing. Here are sources from Square-Enix, on this game, where they admit openly at removing aspects of the base game that were already available to existing parts of the game, and will no longer be aspects to new content being added.
Here I will link the sources, since some people seemingly play this game, and arent aware of the news surrounding it. So here are sources for people who need it. Cold hard facts.
Most people responding to this thread seem fine with these changes, which that is fine, but for me, I find it disappointing, and am here expressing said disappointment.

Do you have any plans to add crafted primal weapons for gunbreaker and dancer?
A54:
Sorry, we don't have the free resources to account for this at the moment. The character team might slowly work on it between patches, but I can’t say "we’ll do it.""
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/411515Glasses and so forth would not display either at first, but after seeing how many people called for us to do something, anything, to address this after the announcement, the character team took it upon themselves to use their spare moments to make it possible—without telling me. More than five hundred and forty such items were carefully modified by our designers so that all would display correctly with our new face models. /salute
Also, please note that while we occasionally added two dungeons in a single patch, moving forward we'll be adding one dungeon per patch to be able to reallocate the development resources to other new content.

I'm sorry, I can't physically handle the amount of hypocritical irony in that post.
