im wondering if the reason has anything to do with MMO popularity in specific countries.
i know Germany has a massive gaming convention that SE attends every year. France is extremely big on gaming from what i understand and English and Japanese are obvious (E3 and Japan being the games home)
But then again consider this - 100% of the games voice acting is in English and there is not a Japanese voice over version ever made even though this is a Japanese game.
so i guess it really does fall into what they want to pump their money into. Translating takes a long time and is pretty costly if you want the translation to not seem generic or robotic.

one other small thing to consider is the variances of the Spanish language. Castellano is pretty damned different compared to Spanish spoken in Tijuana, Mexico... like really different. Castellano is a lot older and a lot more proper than Tijuana Spanish and therefore has a more specific ability to match the old fashioned European nature that the english version currently is. Not saying TJ Spanish is nothing but ghetto talk, but i know that it would be quite different.

i can compare this to the fact that my family is Sicilian. Our dialect is almost a whole nother language compared to Italian and we would have a very hard time understanding anything written in an old fashioned Italian style even though Sicilian is considered to be the same as Italian.
