I don't want to ask a crafter to craft a "Espada de la luz" for me and he won't be able to do it because he don't know what is it. I don't want confusions with jobs (Like DRU being conjurers for germans).

So please, don't translate it. In games fully translated like WoW, is annoying to look info using translated names. I will need his original name in english for look info, so just don't translate it and it will be easier to find info.

You will be able to play in any of the languages.... If you don't want to play with the Spanish translation change the language... it's simple.

Jumping into this thread from multiple, potentially controversial views:

In the long haul, I support the localization of Final Fantasy XIV into the Spanish language. As a consumer, I would also expect customer support for in-game situations and billing support in Spanish too. Lest it be the [non-SE game]'s customer service for NA that directs you to an answering machine recorded in Polish or a Polish speaker that has to awkwardly hang up once both parties realize they cannot communicate to each other. I see 2.0 as a better chance of having Spanish and Italian language options.

From a business standpoint, I support the localization of FFXIV in any language where localization, customer support, and accounting costs are easily covered by the success of the purchases and subscriptions from customers in the represented language. And unfortunately from that standpoint, if everyone here is already a paying customer of those languages, would it be necessary to hire employees to support that player base? Or expect those players to conform to a language already being used?

On the up-and-up side, SE *is* looking for staff to interface with the Spanish and Italian speaking communities. Both in the translation and the marketing arenas.

I think a better way to do this is similar to how filter works. A menu to choose on what language you want to have for things, for example:
Mission and quest: English, Spanish, japanese, German, French .
Jobs and abilities: English, Spanish, japanese, German, French
Items: English, Spanish, japanese, German, French

I don't know if my idea is clear. On each category you can choose the language, so you can play w/e you want.

Misiones y quest: Ingles, español, japones, aleman, frances.
Jobs y habilidades: Ingles, español, japones, aleman, frances.
Items: Ingles, español, japones, aleman, frances.

What matter if it translate?, If you do not like in Spanish leave it in English but that does not have to cut the desire of many people, because if so, why not enter German or French forums and teasing about the names too? Truth Begins me to remember something but right now I could not write ....

Since there is so many other people that speak Spanish, especially 80% of the American continent; It would make sense to have a option to to change the game in Spanish. I hope that at least for 2.0 they can set a Spanish option, it will help a lot in the tutorial for new Spanish speaking players get a good start and not give up on the game fast because they can't get no help.

If they made a spanish translate it won't be for the 80% of people from america, it will for spain mainly. Can be a lot of more people on america but just a small amount of people play.

I would be interested in the infrastructure required to set this.

ラブリィアクス changed to Lovely Axe (or since it's Marauder themed, Robbery Axe! Har har!)
(I thought that said Sandstorm Axe).
