Events/rewards aimed at getting people into PvP needs to stop TBH. SE should instead focus on events that get people to actually play PvP.
Mog Tomes was literally no difference between a win and an loss, saw plenty just there for the tomes putting in no-to-little effort. Garo was slightly better, but the achievements you needed wins for you could still ultimately just roll the dice enough times to clear them. Same goes for literally all the achievements in PvP, only difference playing well makes to earning any of them is time, 1% win rate or 100% win rate, everyone will still get them eventually.
We need events/achievements that actually focus on playing PvP, rather than just participation rewards, which really is every single PvP reward right now. Same sort of thing applies to the recent Frontlines changes IMO; SE removed 24 player and limited people to 4 player premades because "premades were too powerful", but why handle it like that? That's not really doing anything to improve PvP, it's just an attempt to make participation easier with no focus on actually getting people to play properly. Why not instead encourage more people to form premades? Like how hard would it really be to add a new queue option for Frontlines, that puts you in the same queue as everyone else, but you're limited to a 4 player premade with members of your PvP Team? Wins/Kills/Assists/whatever earned while queuing in that mode go towards achievements/event rewards for the whole group, since that nicely circumvents the whole issue of role disparity with regards to such things (so say you're a healer, you still get the kills from the DPS you queued with). Done. Now you've given PvP Teams an actual purpose outside a once a year Feast event. You've effectively limited premades to 4 players without forcing the issue. You've got a set of achievements/events that can work off actually engaging with PvP properly. You've encouraged people to actually go into PvP with a group rather than just queuing solo and not coordinating.
But no, we'll get another Mog Tomes event soon, and people can literally sit in the corner of Seal Rock eating dirt and still reap all the rewards. Good job, SE. To be honest though, I'd even be fine with that if they at least worked it so there is always demand for PvP as a result of such events. Ending Garo without a replacement hasn't worked out too well, and the new PvP gear was so easy to obtain that it really didn't keep people queuing for long at all... How about raising that Wolf Marks currency cap so new gear can actually take more than a week to earn? Don't even need to do that to be honest, having tokens (like for tomestone weapons) can circumvent any currency cap easily. Still not really fixing the issue with PvP rewards, but eh... Keeping people PvPing for new items for two weeks is an improvement on them only Pvping for one week.
