Why would they go out of business?

Players who follow the rules have nothing to fear.

Rather than placing the responsibility on Square Enix (yes, they should really be the ones handling this problem, but let's face it - they're not going to), why don't we have some changes made to the blacklist system?

Change #1 - If you want more blacklist slots than the game provides by default, you can opt to have the blacklist data stored locally on your PC/PS4 instead of the Square Enix servers. Think your hardware can handle a million people on your blacklist? Go ahead and try it!

Change #2 - Blacklist affects more than just chat. Blocked players will never have their party finder entries appear to you ever again.

At least, at that point, I won't be angry every single time I open the party finder. Out of sight, out of mind.

"The following adjustments have been made to the Party Finder:
Players can now blacklist other players actively recruiting party members.
Recruitment listings for players on your blacklist will no longer display.
    * An option to enable these listings can be found under Party Finder Display Settings."

Well, that's 1 out of 2 down. Better than nothing.

Found out the other day you can still hear and see blacklisted players if your running alliance raid and there on another team. They should block blacklisted players from your party finder so don't end up with them ever.

Never really got why people get so mad at the sales in PF. No one uses PF for Expert Roulette and there's only like 3 tabs in PF that's even worth looking at.

If they're willing to skirt around their own rules and policies for questionable things whats stopping them from finding arbitrary reasons to doll out the ban hammer?

There's usually a benefit to viewing advertising. For TV, online sites, streaming and so on, it allows that content to be created. What benefits do these real-money PF ads have for FFXIV players? None of the money goes to SE. Might as well have Mog Station ads up in PF 24/7.

Why would they arbitrarily ban paying customers?

Hint: they don't. No online game company does. There is always a reason, with that reason usually coming down to the player has been doing something the business finds harmful to the game. Those harmful things are generally spelled out in the ToS. Even if the player has violated the ToS, they generally are getting warned or a very brief ban at most unless a repeat offender. You really have to push the limit to earn yourself a permanent ban.

Those who aren't violating the ToS or the spirit of it have nothing to fear unless their account gets compromised. At that point, they need to work with SE to prove the compromise.

If you fear getting an "arbitrary" ban hammer, ask yourself what you are doing to generate that fear.

@Square ........... give me a lifetime free subscription on two accounts... my actual account, and one where I got access to GM's so they can level boost my new characters which I'll use to buy off the RMT'ers and instead of sending them money, I send their info to Square's moderation team.

Problem solved. Got my RL job but I can dedicate 2 or 3 hours a week to that, just get a couple dozen more of me and problem solved.
