Viera can't use the new Modern Aesthetics - Modern Legend

From E3 Famitsu interview with Yoshida (you can find full version on reddit):
"Since Hrothgar have hairstyles tied to their character creation options rather than being separately selectable, you will not be able to apply unlockable hairstyles, but they might implement more face types after 5.0. As for Viera, there's some legacy haristyles they'll able to eventually implement, but not all of them. Some of unlockable hairstyles should be supported, others may not be."
So... Where? I want to use my Minfilia hairstyle again. I bought her outfit only for the hairstyle.

We can only really go off the latest information and sometime after that Yoshi said that Viera and Hrothgar would be getting unique hairs and not shared hairs.

I used fantasia to change to Viera and I'm enjoying it. As they're a special race and it may not be possible, but feel like the number of hairstyles available for Viera and Hrothgar is quite limited. Do you have plans to add more in the future?

Of course we plan on adding more, so please wait for future patches. However it will still be race-specific, so there won’t be as many selections when compared to other races."

Going by the fact that this new hair style doesn't have any traits that stand out as too disruptive for the Viera ears and legit looks like a waaaaay better version of the short Viera hair then, until proven otherwise, I think it would be in the best interest to assume the latest stance (Unique Hair, no shared hair) is the path they're taking now. Perhaps when they do release hair I will be proven wrong and they will be given some newer shared hairs, who knows.

There is really no excuse at all.
The viera head is less problematic than aura, just put the new hairstyle onto their head and not look about hairstyle clipping a little into the ears, thats it...

Aura horns come out at the same spot as other race's ears and give the head a comfy amount of room to lay hair on ... they are no harder to work with than elezen.

Yeah it's really starting to feel like their... questionable choice (to put it lightly) to lock Hrothgar hair to their head might be what's holding Viera back..

That's a very poor way of thinking about it.

What's "holding them back" is that the devs decided to stay true to what Viera are instead of taking the kitty head system and blowing up the ears.
Believe it or not but having ears come out of the TOP of a head is not something most styles were designed to work around over the years. Many would require a full redesign to look right on Viera and the devs may think "why bend over backwards to make some old hairs work when we can just make cool new hairs that are only for them and reinforce this unique head aesthetic?".

I mean, I clearly remember Viera going "I don't mind, wE gOt thE bESt haIrs iN ThE GaAaME! HuHuHu!" after the expac dropped. Seems like the release of a good looking new hair as stared the pot again.

The nature of their release it likely does mean that content for Viera and Hrothgar is very likely tied together as ... by all means they are seen as 1 race worth of work. I don't really think that's at the detriment to either of them. I don't expect Hrothgar to get 1-2-3 hairs when ever they add them cause given their head system they likely are not gonna give any heads more hairs than the other heads so until we see what happens I personally expect a decent amount of new hairs for viera and Hrothgar when ever they come.
