...Really?
You realize I'm using "all" and excluding Viera and Hrothgar because I'm talking about a hypothetical addition prior to the addition of Viera/Hrothgar, right? As in, exactly what I said;
If I need to simplify that, then let me put it like this; Instead of adding Viera and Hrothgar at all, I'd rather that effort and work had gone into improving the character creation options for the existing races. No where am I saying don't work on options for Viera/Hrothgar, I'm simply stating my opinion; That I'd rather have seen the existing six races improved upon, instead of adding two more to the mix, more so given the two new races they did add to the mix have been fairly divisive additions that have clearly upset a lot of people. Obviously I'm not going to talk about Viera/Hrothgar getting anything in that scenario, because in that scenario they never existed to begin with.
And do you realize that most of the options people want for a race like Au Ra wouldn't cause the same issues Viera have? Like take their horns, they are tied to the face because of PS3 limitations (which is gone now, by the way), letting us pick those independently isn't going to cause any extra issues as far as Viera type issues go, because all those horn options already work with existing hairstyles and headgear. Adjusting the hue of scales? That's literally just effectively an additional skin tone option. Certainly not going to cause any issues like Hrothgar having vastly different head structure. Same with letting us customize the density and spread of scales, that's not going to cause any of the sorts of issues that something like the two new races have created, which is exactly why I'd rather have seen more options like that rolled out across all races, than see the addition of new races. It's less work to give existing races new options than it is to remodel every single piece of gear for two new races, and to model every new piece of gear for an additional two races. It's something which potentially benefits every single player since every single player is already playing the existing races, and thus could make use of those new options. In my opinion it's just a better thing to work on than added whole new races.
To reiterate, I'm not saying anyone should be. I'm saying because the addition of Viera/Hrothgar was a half-baked mess, it would have been better to never implement them in the first place; To instead focus those development resources on expanding options for all races. That would have benefited 100% of the playerbase, instead of leaving the 11% playing Viera bitterly disappointed.
No, I'm acting like you're not reading what I'm saying, because you apparently aren't. You're talking to me as though I'm saying "Don't give Viera/Hrothgar new options", when I'm repeatably saying "They shouldn't have added them to begin with if this was the best they could do, putting those development resources into improving all races would have been a better use of their time and money". You can take that as "Screw Viera/Hrothgar" if you like, but it's not what I'm saying. If you want my opinion on the current state of things, then here it is; They've added them, so they not only should work on them, but have to IMO. I do, however, think that it's ultimately a poor use of the developers time and resources, because as I've said, that time and effort could have gone into all the previously existing six races instead, or other projects entirely, I actually imagine a large part of why we see so many reskinned pieces of gear lately is largely because the modelers are stretched thin as a result of having two extra body types to model all gear around, using pre-existing sets they've already done that work for is therefor a simple corner to cut. However, they have added them, and that's that. Now they need to finish them. I simply wish they hadn't added them in the first place.
I'm really not sure how much clearer I can make my point, so I'm just going to stop bothering.
