Raiding isn't part of the core gameplay either. About the only thing that can be said to be is the MSQ. And that can already has already received an instant 100% Echo.I said can afford to, not have to. And I was just calling out your false equivalence of "if crafting can be one-buttoned, raiding should be one-buttoned to". PVE (of which raiding is a part of) is a main goal of the game. Crafting isn't, it is secondary facet of the game.
If they made crafting the main goal, and PVE second, this wouldn't be the same game anymore, let alone an RPG
Optionality doesn't correlate to difficulty. Sidequests aren't harder than dungeons. Gold Saucer isn't harder than dungeons. Relic Weapons aren't harder than dungeons.
To be fair crafting is a pretty large part of the game, though. It isn't 'side content' in the same vein as the more niche content since we get eight crafter classes and three gathering classes, all of which get fresh content with each new patch and have entire job story-lines tied to the 1-70 leveling experience. Furthermore, they're tied to the custom delivery system, the Crystarium delivery system and as of tomorrow the Ishgard reconstruction. There's also regular levequests on top of all that.
Crafting needs a boost in the mogstation. Too boring to do otherwise, I want the crafting beast tribe rewards and stuff.

That's like saying changing difficulty levels change a game's core gameplay. Raiding fundamentally requires the same as the rest of the game's PVE. You have to do rotations, you have to deal with mechanics (dodging AoEs is included in this). You don't have to do anything radically new that you haven't had to do before. What changes is only difficulty.
Raiding is the core gameplay taken to a higher difficulty level. It's not a whole new type of gameplay.
But it's not false. The crafting in FF14 is a game within a game. When you play a game, you still have to put effort into beating it. It doesn't matter whether the game is nested inside another game or not.
So yes, I'm against people winning games without putting forth any effort.
They raised crafting and gathering exp from 300% to 500%. If you still can’t be bothered to level them even after that, then perhaps crafting just isn’t for you,
If you want to do automated crafting, it's already there, it's called Quick Synth.
I may not be a good crafter, but I actually like crafting. Just grinds my gears sometimes as I don't have space to store all the mats.
Also, just because something isn't the "core gameplay" doesn't mean it should be simplified. It'll just alienate the people who actually DO like the thing that isn't "core gameplay"
Saying this as someone who used to be a hardcore PvPer in HW, until they simplified it, and made it so dull.
