Because I am a casual scrub who has never sent foot in a Savage duty, and only does EXs if I can unsync them, and I have a pretty bad reputation for wasting Limit Breaks when I'm trying to do literally anything else, and I haven't failed on one of these solo duties in the 6 years I've been playing.

    Colour me... morbidly curious.
Why, logically, should he respond to this? Your only response is gonna be "... But its not hard."

I've got a nearly perfect, 1st try clear record (beyond the Nadaam and Thancred) with these story instances. I know how to play my WAR. And optional Moogle difficulty for them is fine with me cus it doesn't effect me, unless I choose it.

For those going on about how this will effect skill level in the DF, you can't be serious. You are making it sound like these are a gateway to dungeons or something. You remember group content is a requirement starting at level 15, right? LONG before we hit things like The Grand Melee. Stop being silly. These story instances aren't training, whether the player wants them to be or not. They're one-shots, only replayable with NG+. Let the moogles have their difficulty.

It won't affect you until you end up in a party with people who chose to only play easy modes because normal was too hard for them. The players who normally would have quit the game or would have gotten better instead of quitting will remain very bad.

    Look at the bigger picture.

The bigger picture still shows you being stupid. I'm not gonna get stuck in a dungeon cus someone turned down the difficulty when they fought the Nadaam. It will not effect me. Or you, except in your head.

Because I'm genuinely curious? All we hear is cries of "Solo Zenos is too hard, plz nerf" and we never hear about gear levels, rotations, etc, and in the few cases we do hear about gear or rotations, it's usually sub-par gear and incredibly bad rotations.

I just want to see what the deal is.

And therein lies the issue. "People who would have quit". So in your scenario, it's okay if story content is too difficult for people and causes them to leave. Weed out the bads, right?

Less people playing the game is *not* a good thing for its survival.

It's far more likely someone will quit playing because they find things too difficult at first than "Omg, I got in a few parties where people died. Too many scrubs, unsubbing now!" Keep them in, keep them engaged, the chance of them improving only increases as time goes on.

But hey, I'm nothing but a healer who gets exasperated when I have to carry bad players who claim normal mode content is too hard or that I need to heal better even though they got one-shot.
Since I've cleared most dungeons with PUGs the entire time I've played this game and I haven't had this occur, maybe I *am* lucky. Or my server (and now Data Center) is just talented. Or maybe I just don't criticize people as much as some, am content with staying in my lane as long as we clear the thing, and ignorance is bliss. Who knows?

Point is, normal mode story instances aren't gating the players you don't like. Which is self-evident, since you've met them enough to complain about them.

I would rather be grouped with humble “bads” than a lot of the people with the smug elitist attitudes in this thread.

I normally would agree with you but we're talking about MSQ solo duties. They're already at a level that most players can pass with ease and maybe needing to attempt a few two or three times. They're literally designed to be playable by even the most casual players. Why is there a need to bring down their difficulty even lower than this?

When was the last time you heard about people quitting over the difficulty of solo instances? Probably never, right? Maybe because...they're not a problem to 99% of players? Which again begs the question, why do we need easier solo modes?

Like with any multiplayer game there are some issues regarding players somehow falling through the cracks and ending up being able to participate in content that demands far above their skill. Sure you can vote kick them but the solution to this should not be to remove them from parties (which is something that can make players quit if it keeps happening to them!) the solution should be to provide content that forces players to improve in a way that is enjoyable which then reduces the chances of encountering very bad players. Introducing easy modes for solo duties is a step backwards in this.

And why are solo duties important? Because you can't get carried. Only you can be good enough to finish the content, unlike group MSQ stuff where it can be done for you by other people.

    Sounds good to me.

To the people pretending the MSQ is some kind proving ground to prepare people for difficult group content, grow up. MSQ has always been easy and doesn't teach you crap about how to play this game. It's only there for the sake of enjoying the story, and if making things easier helps some people enjoy the story then good for them.

I do kind of wish they would've thrown us a harder difficulty as well, though.
