The problem with Healers is they r like, and im just using it as an example not to start anything, Brexit.
Everyone has their own idea of what it means to heal, and noone agrees whats best. Theres ppl that just like to heal, theres dps who want easy queues so play healer but want to dps, theres ppl who like supporting, ppl who think dps is just for 'filling' and those that could care less if ppl die around them.
Personally, im happy to fill in gaps with dps, but find it so demoralizing and depressing when im considered 'bad' because i sit at the bottom of meters, when ive objectively done so much more than other ppl between mechanics and healing and dpsing and having to worry about mana when others dont, and being the 'visible' weak link if ppl die.
Maybe we need to b asking ourselves what im sure the devs are, what do we actually want?
Ive had many ideas on what id like to see after SE said they were trying to move us away from dps focussed to heal:
Healers having only gcd heals and ogcd dps, to make healing spells more than an afterthought.
Healers (and only healers) having the dots, so that our dps is about keeping them up, but so through them we carry on dpsing when we have to do our actual job.
Healers having all the support abilities instead of the other classes to weave between our heals, instead of dps, for example, scholars bringing crit buffs, astrologians haste and whms det.
And more thread specific, i want to see more to actively bring our kit together as a scholar instead of have so many pieces that by using them stops us using others things.
For example, instead of NRGD, having our dps off the fairy guage to promote using our heals towards making dps, instead of using our AF and dissipation for dps at the expense of our healing (i know theres issues with this, ive fleshed it out elsewhere, its just an example here
Unfortunately, imo, the prevalent obssesion with just dps numbers and silly rotations, instead of anything meaningful and interesting group wise, is making us less and less compelling jobs, that no amount of potency increases will fix.
