My experience with group B players, that is - those that just want their favorite stuff from other MMO games brought into the latest MMO (which happens to be FFXIV), is that they often won't stick around very long.

These types of players will typically flock to the whatever the latest and greatest MMO happens to be. They have no real long-term interest in FFXIV or the franchise, nor do they care much about the craftsmanship that goes into the game.

Its the difference between wanting the game to be a piece of art, or a just a drug.

i agree, alot of people have played many MMOs and have tried and left this one.
the fans of the series are the ones who are in for the long haul and still, SE is doing its best to satisfy the ones who will be gone as soon as the next MMO comes out.

There are some situations where it doesn't matter how loud the community cries. Take jump for example. Jump was strongly opposed as much as it was favored just like this mount business. Since jumping and the mount systems have a larger scaled and greater purpose in the works, don't expect to change these things.

Jumping is being designed alongside brand new world maps and to give this game broader dimensions. Mounts in their current form are able to be ridden, but later we will be able to use them as familiars that can fight beside us. They could give this feature to chocobos only, but where is the fun in that?

This feature could also be subject to change as well. For all we know they could decide to create a beastmaster type class/job and only allow them to mount and fight side by side with the mobs you befriend. If there is anything we can do as a community, it's to give other ways of thinking how to implement features that we know is set within their plans. Simply saying that you dislike something can be helpful as well, but what can they do to make how you feel about it better? Not adding a new feature simply because you dislike it is not good enough. Try and think outside the bubble.

I know it's difficult for some, but it could very well come together in the end and you could inspire new ideas for others to extend on. It's time to start turning this into a real discussion rather than short posts that could also double as a post in your live journal. Less "me", more "we".

Group D: you are incapable of reading someone's subjective opinion (redundancy intended - or is that not allowed either?!?!) regarding a certain aspect of the game without it making you so angry that you lose control of your senses (if any) and rage-post about how much you loath being a part of something that's 150%, purely & completely and forever will be, optional to play and/or otherwise participate in any level whatsoever.

I've outlined many acceptable ways for the devs to implement the Goobbue mount in a way that doesn't diminish the game, the Beastmaster job being my favorite by far.

But there are many on this forum who just want lots of mounts, and jumping, and pvp, and glowing weapons immediately - with zero regard to how they fit into the game and world.

Those are the people that will disappear from both the game and these forums once a WoW2, or a Skyrim MMO, or w/e is released.

SE used to be a trendsetter, it's a sad day to see it as a follower -- especially in an attempt to pander to those who couldn't care less at the end of the day.

Let me get this straight, you think

want fun and challenging = want ez and shiny
any non ff fanatic = will not stick around
any non ff fanatic = doesn't like quality
any non ff fanatic = wants a mix of all the other games they have ever played in a mashed up mmo


It's funny to see that ff fanatics will say stay true to the essence of the series.
Because from the get go SE created the FF universe that is in existence today?
Chocobos, all classes and all spells were created in FFI.


Thank you, you have set me straight, I can't tell the difference between a quality MMO and a F2P MMO. I am a bad person cause i choose to leave a game if/when it no longer entertains me.

Yea sorry I'm in this game for the long haul and a longtime FF fan and I love mounts, jumping, and glowing weapons because I do think they fit in the game world, especially when they get the lighting to work correctly. You can't generalize people and think that everyone on either side has exactly the same aesthetic tastes.

I have no issues with ppl stating their opinion. I have an issue when ppl state their opinion while also demeaning any counter point. As to the poster I was writing to, anyone who doesn't share the view is a mmo fan who doesn't know what quality is and is incapable of challenging content who only cares for shiny things to be handed to them in a silver platter.
