Anyway, if the laws of both the US (where I live) and France (where you live) agree that defamation requires that the statement be false, why wouldn't we assume for the sake of conversation that it's a valid requirement until presented with a case in a different jurisdiction? Especially since I'm certain that the nations' respective laws also relate to their citizens' posting defamatory things online.

Because then anyone could make a thread with the sole purpose of hurting someone.

Example: Let's for the sake of this example that I dislike Matsume. Now, Matsume has done nothing wrong but, I make a thread telling people to b-list him. I photoshop a screen shot of Matsume /t ing me. I make it seem as though he was saying racial slurs and such. People believe me, and Matsume never saw this thread. Soon he is banned. Without warning.

Now...None of this was really said by Bowen, nor did he commit any of the 5 or 6 crimes I made it appear he is admiting to. All it takes, is a simple post that has been edited once to make it appear that someone such as Bowen has verbally insulted me and then edited it out later.

The same is true for Screen Shots of players that have done wrong to others. It is very easy to chop up screenshots leaving out and emphasizing the parts one wishes rendering an untrue image of an event.

My point Viridiana, is: Yes the statment should indeed be false in order for defamationg to be commited BUT just because one or twenty players believes a statement to be true DOES NOT MAKE IT THUS. The next 50 players to come along, who may be his friend, can claim that such a statement is false reardless of your screenshots, and the statement will thus be rendered false.

And don't any of you give me any grief for playing Minecraft. >_>'
