The problem is that while the mentor system *SHOULD* be used to teach the basics of gameplay to low level players, that's not the case.
You can be a novice, and level 70, when you should already understand the basics of the game. EX trials also are things that can happen in the mentor roulette, and they are also a requirement.

So while mentors are being advertised as a person who helps new players get off the ground, you can very much so click on a mentor roulette, and end up in a synced Hells' Kier EX trial with level 70 sprouts.

SE either needs to remove the EX requirement, and lower the level of sprouts - or increase the requirement and expectations of mentors.

looking at the NN list, I see sprouts who have multiple level 80 classes. So it seems level doesn't even play a factor.
