Why is leaching tolerated in MSQ roulette?

I think the idea of the roulette is to recruit players to help new sprouts through their story-based dungeon, with the payment of a huge EXP and tome reward. If you sign up for MSQ Roulette, you're agreeing to this arrangement. It's not designed or intended as a daily mandatory leveling instance. People need to stop looking at it as such and feeling entitled to the EXP. It's a story instance and you're only there to help new players.

Since you signed up for this, agreeing to the deal of sitting through cutscenes and guiding the sprouts through in exchange for EXP, you have no right to AFK or cutscene skip.

A poorly designed dungeon does not justify leaching or performing exploits. This game is not new, those were created ages ago and all are well aware that they don't really function correctly these days. For a sprout though, it is a big deal, for the story conclusion. If you can't stand it (I can't), simply don't queue. No one forces you to run it, but if you do, at least have the integrity to not afk/skip/exploit and ruin a new player's experience.

I'm just sitting here wondering what happened to gamers enjoying the game and not treating games as if it was their second job? I like to think everyone knows that the roulette was created so new players or alts can get through the story. It has nothing to do with you and your leveling of other jobs or even you parsing and thinking "I'm top dps, so I get to chill". Just play the damn game and enjoy it. Stop trying to find every possible excuse as to why you need to exploit the roulette. This is just as bad as the raid roulette. I hate to be that person but some of you really do need to just stop playing MMORPGs and just back to candy crush or something, geez.

That's all I'm going to say in this thread because it will just keep making me salty every time I come in here, laterz.

Exactly, well said, I agree with you it’s no different than the raid roullete issue, I’ve even seen people leaving preatorum or castrum simply because it wasn’t the one they wanted, the selfishness needs to stop.

If we're gonna sit here and slip under the system and have people exploit all day...
Then they should alter the entire dungeon into a solo mission.
Newbies won't have to deal with this stuff nonsense, but the roulette will be removed.
I think that would help honestly since people can't be asked to be kind and wait.

Yes, I made a comment asking a question because I was curious on how people see this and instead of answering it, you started throwing insults my way.

Actually another thing to consider: since the unskipable cutscenes are there to let newbies enjoy the experience without being rushed - is it really in their best interest for people to do their best to defeat the enemies quickly, or are people who afk and hence slow the fights down actually doing newbies a favor(unintentionally of course, let's not kid ourselves) by letting them see more of each fight?

This is not true at all. People were not booted from parties for not skipping cutscenes. No one ever had an issue with new players watching cutscenes. The rest of the party just continues of and told the new player not to worry about it and to go ahead and watch the cutscenes. What actually happened is people were complaining on the forums how they were wanting to watch cutscenes and the rest of the party was skipping them and killing bosses to fast so by the time they got out of one cutscene the next one started right up and they were not given a chance to fight enemies.

Except what I said did happen, as many people can, and have, attested to. It obviously wasn't the only reason, but it was one of them.

Also, no idea why my first post in this thread disappeared, as I can only see it because it was quoted by someone else. I haven't experienced a forum randomly eating a post long after it was made before.

Oh boy, another one of those. You realise this is reportable, right? As in, SE does not like people doing this and will issue temp bans? I'll be sure to report you in-game if I happen to run into you when you do this. People like you are why aspects of this game are a slog.

Also, pulling the same weight? What a joke. You're using exploits, and you seriously think you have the high ground here? Really?

The post I made in response to someone using the cutscene exploit... Was this actually considered offensive? Me saying I would report them for gaming the system if I see them doing it? Seriously?

How do you tell an AFKer from a new player in some of these instances? When I did the MSQ with the Magitek mount, I had trouble even keeping up with everyone. My computer isn't the fastest, I don't know my way around the areas, and everyone was running through the instance at a breakneck pace (probably thanks to all the unskippable cut scenes). Most fights, bosses would be at 20% by the time I even got a hit off. Despite doing my best, I'm sure that anyone with a parser could easily have mistaken me for being AFK for many of these fights.

My latest incident was a mentor tank being afk from the get go without ever saying a word, not moving an inch from the zone in. When I suggested to kick them 15 minutes into the duty suddenly they became quite active in partychat, going "Wtf?! I was cooking! Why would you kick me? You're such a..." lol. So yeah I'm pretty sure they were a leech.
