Seeing how the MSQ skip has a giant Gold medal with the number 1 on it, I'm thinking not as many as you think. The story is good, but out of the millions of players, not many want to replay it for the sake of replaying it. If it gave XP I see people using it to lvl up other jobs.

Apples and oranges. Story skip lets people skip the lock on end game content that the story provides. People use story skip potions so they don't have to spend several weeks to months doing it just to play with their friends in end game. I'd argue that NG+ benefits people who used a story skip potion the most.Seeing how the MSQ skip has a giant Gold medal with the number 1 on it, I'm thinking not as many as you think. I'm not sure if that's a good indicator of the story's popularity. I know that in my case when I started the game, the MSQ was one of the things I didn't enjoy. It separated me from friends and even if there were parts that were enjoyable, it wasn't worth taking in when it delayed my leveling. With the replay feature I'll now be able to go back and see the story in full or in part if I'd like. For me, this is the best way to enjoy the story and I may become more interested in the MSQ's future content as I won't have to choose between rapidly progressing and taking my time with the story.Seeing how the MSQ skip has a giant Gold medal with the number 1 on it, I'm thinking not as many as you think. I can only speak for myself, however I have very little desire to replay ARR. I also wasn't the biggest fan of Stormblood; more specifically the Ala Mhigo arc. Now if I only want to re-experience Shadowbringers, I have a very lengthily grind ahead or I'm out $50. Furthermore, this alt has none of my glamours and may not have access to them since many are raid drops or from the cash shop. On top of all that, The Unending Journey does not have every single cut scene and offers no means of redoing story battles like the level 50 Dark Knight encounter.
See, how you're forcing people who otherwise were content not redoing the story to go through it again if they happen to fancy collecting titles, mounts or glamour. Why does it need rewards when the entire purpose of NG+ is re-experiencing the story? If that alone doesn't interest you, then the feature was never intended for you. It's the equivalent of asking for a story or "easy" mode version of Ultimate because it's content you wouldn't touch otherwise despite it being designed exclusively for those seeking a challenge. And no offense, but I find it a bit amusing you think they would put any of those items or outfits in the game for free. Those will find their way onto the cash shop because SE likes money. It should offer:
- Exp again from Quests n MSLonly as reward, with like 100% Bonus, therefore no Gil, no Items, no Gear Stuff, just only increased exp, fore those who want to level alts faster.
- A title maybe for having replayed once completely a certain part of the game, ARR, HW, SB, SH, and for having replayed once the whole game to current plot end, lets say Storyteller/Historian/Hero Titles based on those story segments being replayed at least once.
- Special earnable Glamours of Weapons n Gear for having replayed fully either ARR (Gaius Weapon/Armor), HW (Estinien's Bloodred Dragoon Gearset), SB (Lyses CG trailer Weapon/Dress) or SH ( Y'shtola's Blackmage Staff/Dress with Hood) from the SH CG of the expansion's trailer CG.
- Some unique TT Cards, Pets n Mounts to receive as one time rewards for replaying completely the game for the first time, like for example a Phoenix Card for ARR, an alternate Estinien Card that shows him in his Past HW Gear for HW, a Papalymo Card for SB that shows him in his last moments, and an Emet Selch/ Hades Card for SH ect, just makibg examples for cards only now here.
As for your mention of ARR. That would actually be a waste of resources. Not only is it a monumental undertaking; Yoshida citing it would require them essentially rebuilding all of the zones from the ground up. You want to funnel people back to content six years old when it could be put to use in Shadowbringers. Contrary to what people seem to think, coding New Game+ likely requires very little in terms of resources. All they need to do is have a system which unchecks the flag for your MSQ completion upon accessing the NG+ menu. That's significantly less work than redesigning whole zones.
Yes... to skip all of the cut scenes and have a hilariously easy, overpowered means of speed leveling. Which kinda defeats the entire point of NG+.Seeing how the MSQ skip has a giant Gold medal with the number 1 on it, I'm thinking not as many as you think. That gold medal only means more people have bought that recently than any other item. We have no idea how many have actually sold though. It could be as little as 500 skips if the next closest item is at 499, well the jump potion will get a medal. Regardless, people typically buy those to rush an alt for end game purposes. I know plenty of raiders who do enjoy the story but due to wanting to tackle end game quickly, skip everything and eventually go back on an alt. This feature very much appeals to them since they can enjoy the story at their own pace without it interfering with their end game.

"Stand in the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters."
"The silence is your answer."
Isn't that what we talking about? The lack of people wanting to redo the story just for the sake of redoing the story.
No. I am responding to your claim that story skip potion popularity is an indication that less people like doing the story than is being claimed. I'm pointing out that you can't claim that correlation because people use story skip potions to bypass the end game lock and not because they don't want to see the story.

Actually, if I could just redo the STORY without having to unlock, grind, redo fly points? Man o' MAN would I be a happy little gamer girl. Dude... I'm THERE for it. And boy oh BOY guess what? They'er providing it for me. :3 I have 2 alts created for RP reasons (gasp, yes, I live on Balmung so that's a shocker, I know) that I skipped through ARR only and have been working through, or starting to work through, HW... and while I HATE the slog of the 'unlock/flypoint' part... I do it PURELY because I am in love with the story. And I'll keep doing it for the story. Knowing that my MAIN is going to get to go back and redo story-points makes me super giddy. ESPECIALLY Shadowbringers... I just want to sit back and redo ALL of Shadowbringers... that's how dang much I love the story that Ishikawa handed us. I want it again. All of it. More. Mmmmm. And while I am more or less... 'enjoying' raiding with my static? it's really not my cup of tea. I don't live for raiding/end game.
I honestly think there are a lot of people who enjoy the story, hate the unlock/grind that use the jump potions but lament that they are missing out on the storyline. NG+ will give them the opportunity to go back and just streamline the story they might have missed. So kudos on the devs for that.
We'll have to disagree, I do think there is a correlation between the two.No. I am responding to your claim that story skip potion popularity is an indication that less people like doing the story than is being claimed. Okay so let me get this straight, your argument is that only 3 or 4 people want the New Game+ feature because ... the story skip is popular on Mog station?Seeing how the MSQ skip has a giant Gold medal with the number 1 on it, I'm thinking not as many as you think. The story is good, but out of the millions of players, not many want to replay it for the sake of replaying it. If it gave XP I see people using it to lvl up other jobs.
Well, after just finishing ARR story for the first time since I started 6 years ago, I do see a good reason to use the skip at least for that one, so I wouldn't be surprised that a good bunch do skip ARR because of its quality.Seeing how the MSQ skip has a giant Gold medal with the number 1 on it, I'm thinking not as many as you think. Can't say for HW or SB because I have just started: everyone say it's the best story ever and whatnot but I will see it for myself. I'm going expecting the worse so that I am prepared for it.
However after playing ARR and slogging through it, I'm starting to feel really bad for those old RPGs that I quit because I found their stories bad...hmm, excuse me but I have some old rpgs to make amends with.
