Seeing how the MSQ skip has a giant Gold medal with the number 1 on it, I'm thinking not as many as you think. The story is good, but out of the millions of players, not many want to replay it for the sake of replaying it. If it gave XP I see people using it to lvl up other jobs.

Apples and oranges. Story skip lets people skip the lock on end game content that the story provides. People use story skip potions so they don't have to spend several weeks to months doing it just to play with their friends in end game. I'd argue that NG+ benefits people who used a story skip potion the most.Seeing how the MSQ skip has a giant Gold medal with the number 1 on it, I'm thinking not as many as you think. Isn't that what we talking about? The lack of people wanting to redo the story just for the sake of redoing the story.
No. I am responding to your claim that story skip potion popularity is an indication that less people like doing the story than is being claimed. I'm pointing out that you can't claim that correlation because people use story skip potions to bypass the end game lock and not because they don't want to see the story.

We'll have to disagree, I do think there is a correlation between the two.No. I am responding to your claim that story skip potion popularity is an indication that less people like doing the story than is being claimed. Actually, if I could just redo the STORY without having to unlock, grind, redo fly points? Man o' MAN would I be a happy little gamer girl. Dude... I'm THERE for it. And boy oh BOY guess what? They'er providing it for me. :3 I have 2 alts created for RP reasons (gasp, yes, I live on Balmung so that's a shocker, I know) that I skipped through ARR only and have been working through, or starting to work through, HW... and while I HATE the slog of the 'unlock/flypoint' part... I do it PURELY because I am in love with the story. And I'll keep doing it for the story. Knowing that my MAIN is going to get to go back and redo story-points makes me super giddy. ESPECIALLY Shadowbringers... I just want to sit back and redo ALL of Shadowbringers... that's how dang much I love the story that Ishikawa handed us. I want it again. All of it. More. Mmmmm. And while I am more or less... 'enjoying' raiding with my static? it's really not my cup of tea. I don't live for raiding/end game.
I honestly think there are a lot of people who enjoy the story, hate the unlock/grind that use the jump potions but lament that they are missing out on the storyline. NG+ will give them the opportunity to go back and just streamline the story they might have missed. So kudos on the devs for that.

I'm not sure if that's a good indicator of the story's popularity. I know that in my case when I started the game, the MSQ was one of the things I didn't enjoy. It separated me from friends and even if there were parts that were enjoyable, it wasn't worth taking in when it delayed my leveling. With the replay feature I'll now be able to go back and see the story in full or in part if I'd like. For me, this is the best way to enjoy the story and I may become more interested in the MSQ's future content as I won't have to choose between rapidly progressing and taking my time with the story.Seeing how the MSQ skip has a giant Gold medal with the number 1 on it, I'm thinking not as many as you think. Well, after just finishing ARR story for the first time since I started 6 years ago, I do see a good reason to use the skip at least for that one, so I wouldn't be surprised that a good bunch do skip ARR because of its quality.Seeing how the MSQ skip has a giant Gold medal with the number 1 on it, I'm thinking not as many as you think. Can't say for HW or SB because I have just started: everyone say it's the best story ever and whatnot but I will see it for myself. I'm going expecting the worse so that I am prepared for it.
However after playing ARR and slogging through it, I'm starting to feel really bad for those old RPGs that I quit because I found their stories bad...hmm, excuse me but I have some old rpgs to make amends with.
I don't think level skips are proof for your statement. I'm willing to bet a good chunk of people who skip aren't even new players but people making alts to play with friends on other servers.Seeing how the MSQ skip has a giant Gold medal with the number 1 on it, I'm thinking not as many as you think.
