It may interest you to learn that using the term "toon" to refer to a player's avatar does not originate in WoW. It is MUCH older than that.Another little gripe I have, is the increasing use of 'WoW-speak' to describe FFXIV terms that are not appropriate for this game and just look stupid. I don't mean common MMO terms that are appropriate to the game (especially ones themselves SE has officially adopted, like 'tank' or 'DPS') but specifically silly abbreviations or synonyms like 'toon' or 'rez', it just comes across as immature (characters here are realistic and look nothing like cartoons, and 'rez' sounds like a 90's game character, it's 'Raise' people! How hard is it to type two more letters? Urrghhhh!!
(Yes I know ACN/SMN/SCH equivelant spell to Raise is called Ressurection but even then using 'Rez' for that still comes across as foolish and stupid.).

Rez rez rez rez reeeeeeez~~~Another little gripe I have, is the increasing use of 'WoW-speak' to describe FFXIV terms that are not appropriate for this game and just look stupid. Really, of all the things to gripe about, this is what you go with? Echoing what another poster said, most terms people use originated elsewhere, and some don't even know what came from where. I'm old enough to have played MUDs (precursor to MMOs, really) years ago through Telnet, so I'm gonna use whatever terms I like in whatever MMO I like.![]()

I first heard this being used in Phantasy Star Universe, which came out 2 years after wow, and it caught on very quick from there.
Before that was Perfect World, and they used the word "alt", same thing with Phantasy Star Online(all versions).

Hey.. there's nothing wrong with being a 90's kid >:O I'd take a 90's kids saying things with "Z" anyday then anything after said 90's.

lol it's not WoW-speak. If anything FFXIV is the one that goes against the norm and has its own nomenclature. Jobs instead of classes, Raises instead of Rez, dps instead of dd, etc etc etc. Even table-top games and variety of other games use a common set of terminology. We even used many of these terms in FFXI. FFXIV-speak is more how it is.
You cant expect ppl to walk in and start using a whole new set of terms in a game that has its own terms just cause.

Meanwhile, this thread is about expressing what annoys you, and everyone is entitled to their personal annoyance.
For instance, it annoys me immensely to see players staying on mounts, in PVP, as they continuously get hit and do nothing to either fight back or try to get away. Especially in 24-man fights, and when they're just running with a single opponent behind them, just pummeling.

That I (still) cannot preview cashhop fashsion on my character without searching someone wearing it. I know people's missgivings with in-game cash shop implementations, but MMOs like GW2 and even BnS had a great glamour system where you could preview either all unlockable or the shop-glamour. It's like window-shopping by simply clicking on the piece of fashion in the dedicated in-game menu and done.
Just a proud bad-skilked player
1. lack of chat bubbles.
2. people who say no to chat bubbles even though it would(and should) be a toggle-able display.

Severaly of weaver line of pants are setup where only the top portion is dyable, while the bottom isnt. Example off the top of my head is Linen bottoms. The 'leggings' part doesnt dye, and all of them are like this.
We used "toon" and "rez" back in Everquest in 1999, not sure how that's "wow speak". As if MMOs were a place of mature, well spoken intellectual conversation before wow happened :PPAnother little gripe I have, is the increasing use of 'WoW-speak' to describe FFXIV terms that are not appropriate for this game and just look stupid.
