Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

I feel like, in general, a lot of cosmetic stuff got shafted in ShB: DNC and GNB don't have any primal weapons, even lvl 60 or 70. They don't have Alexander weapons (but DO have Shire) and the fancy new hairstyle introduced for all races is unavailable for Viera/Hrothgar (although Viera has a...SIMILAR hairdo that I used until last week). This along with the limited hairstyles and the hat problem (which, I mean, idek who thought we wouldn't miss the RDM hat. One of THE iconic pieces of headgear in the entire FF series) makes it feel like ShB brought quite a bit of substance (MSQ, Role Quests, Eden and future content) but dropped a little of the style.

I think that with classic wow and how SHB is kinda really bad once u finish MSQ FFXIV should really do everythingt hey can next expac if they want a single chance against WoW

Classic WoW isn't going to hold a large audience for more than 2-3 months, guaranteed; it's a gimmick. Streamers are keeping the sheep occupied for now. I would like to see a massive overhaul to PvP in this game - since I am the core a PvP player, but I never see it happening.

I agree about them not caring too much about the new races. It's obvious the way they were handled - like a side project rushed at the last minute. Unfortunate.

Obviously, it's a management decision to allocate resources to which projects when. Devs are just doing their job; what they are told. I will give the devs themselves props, we got some headgear for viera/hrothgar, because they worked on their own time. They do deserve praise for that. Have said before I don't think it's the devs themselves being "lazy".

Agreed. Still new faces just means more reasons to buy a fantasia, you have to use one to change to these new faces anyway. The viera will be able to switch their hairstyle without having to use a fantasia. Hrothgar still have a huge problem for them.

They probably had too much work on their plate. Did as much as they could while working on other projects. They gave GNB/DNC weapons enough for when they would start leveling - rather than for cosmetics. They made what they had to for those new classes. As for the hairstyle/gear, I am pretty sure that and much of the ShB gear, or rather I have the feeling, was completed prior to the decision to add some headgear for viera, and the hair was probably something similar - something to work on later; potentially a racial variant.

There is no need for feminine male viera. They are about to come out with the wedding dress for males. Just put that on and play a max short Miqo'te male, with bright pink blush + lipstick.

It really irks me when people say SE is lazy. They're not. This game existing is proof enough of that. In regards to hairstyles, they already confirmed that Hrothgar will be getting racial specific hairstyles and new faces. Viera will be getting some legacy styles and some new racial styles.

i don't think they're lazy. i think SE is just funneling the money XIV prints into other projects (FF7 remake for example)

Aye, this makes sense since most male roes you see are part of bara the crowd; the others just do it for a laugh - in regards to the extreme outfits. I don't mind it, they can do what they like I suppose. I see a lot of Hrothgars in these outfits now of course, but that was a given.

However when I think of mViera wearing such outfits and then paired with the idea of them being small and feminine, with their lore/history it just doesn't sit well with me. It's a good way to throw people out of the loop, lika aha! The fierce aggressive males are actually just small feminine males! Got ya, bet you were never expecting that were ya!

Mmidlanders seem to be where the bulk of 'serious male characters are' - I rarely see a Mmidlander dressed in the extreme. If anything it's mHorthgar/mMiqote/mRoe/mHighlander. And most of the time they're wearing outfits that look like they came out of an 18+ only dungeon.

A departure from the typical wood-dwelling male Viera, these by @noizi on tumblr are in a more civilized setting. I loved the straight long hairstyle that female Vieras have and hopefully the males will get something similar to this one minus the flowers.

Oh my gosh that art is so cute. I want fancy m!Viera so bad Despite the issues Viera have currently I love the race so much. The way they look, the lore, everything. Hopefully one day Viera will be truly finished and we get the men, too.

Personally I'd love it if they had a bit more variation in height like the FemRoes. Taller than the women at max height, shorter than them by an inch or so at min height. And a build a bit like Elezen, with 'rugged' face option, a 'young-ish' (again, like the Elezen) face option, and a couple 'normal' ones. That's probably the best way to please the majority of people while staying faithful to the pre-existing lore, which should be the goal, I think. As much as I really do want more short feminine guys, I cannot see m!Viera as looking that way and I absolutely do not want another Au Ra situation, lmao

And as I said, we could just get two clans of males: more masculine and more feminine ones (they could just be smaller and have more delicate faces, they don't need a separate model). You could even tell that bigger males prefer to stay at forest and defend thei territory while smaller ones just adapted to live in the cities. There are plenty of options to make players happy and I hope that SE will consider this solution.

Or just have multiple faces where one looks fem and a more forgiving height scale. I don't see why they need to have two clans where one is drastically different from the other, the females don't show this. Sadly it's unlikely that they will do this anyway. There's a reason why all of the auri women are tiny when only one clan actually makes sense for them to be tiny and dainty. Remember the concept art for Xaela? They were tall, strong and looked extremely fierce. They're not going to waste more cash on making another model and then fit the clothes to them. Not when it's already an issue and part of the reason we don't have male Viera at the moment.

Viera being everywhere doesn't matter either in regards to their lore, as only the player's character matters in regards to the storyline. So everyone's Viera doesn't count in your story, only the NPCs technically count. The Vii in first are different from the Viera on the source - it seems like they do not actually have Rava/Veena clans. And the reason why we see so many of them is due to what happened causing them to move to safe havens. None of the males did this. The NPC Viera we see in the source are all tied into the story regarding the Empire who are destroying Ivalice. The homeland for which they currently live is one of rebellion and war - has been for decades.

However, sadly in both the first and the source, the males have been confined to the forests. They would have to recto it for it to make sense that males if one clan live/adapted to cities when the lore keeps hammering on and on how they're never seen in there. Would also bring the question on how that would also make sense - what made them small? Howcome the females of their clan are tall? Nah, that boat sailed when the Veena and Rava are basically the same and have no height difference between the two. Tie this into before regarding what's going on with Ivalice, if Viera males exist in those cities then why were they denied to exist there in regards to the 24man. It's also heavily hinted that the Viera who left their woods now are the ones who left in the past few decades or so.

Anyway personally to me I would just have them be the same height as the females; I'm fine with them having an andro facial option, as those are pretty good to edit. But I don't see a point in making them small for the sake of it unless they're updating the character creator so that all races have a wider height range - which is long past due.

For now, I'd be happy to even see them and I don't see it happening any time soon - if at all. Sad really.
