First off, we wanted to share a note from Yoshida that was posted late last night, in regards to him being unavailable for the past few days.
And as for the "special mount" that he mentioned... Hurray for Goobbues!! I've always loved these creatures. There's just something about them that makes me go "dawwww", even when they mysteriously appeared and owned me when I first explored the La Noscea region. I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU!
More mounts are always a good thing! I will catch 'em all!Hurray opo-opo win.
Please SE stop feeding the trolls.
There's no lore stating that you can't ride a Goobue, thus the possibility is there for them to add the lore that supports you being able to. Clearly there exists evidence suggesting we will be able to. They could add it in as easily as they did materia. Someone who was previously not in Eorzea is now here and knows how to tame Goobues. There we go, now it's lore. There are domestic dogs and there are wild wolves of all kind. Dogs have been domesticated much like cats, however there's still wild breeds out there. Goobbues aren't domesticated animals or have certain "friendly" breeds, they're monsters and nothing more and what better way than to tame a monsters than having a class that does that?
If we're using this dog analogy, there has to be lore that stated Goobbues are friendly monsters and the ones that's been killing us were just black sheep of the bunch. Why people are so against new classes is beyond me.
Except for the fact that SE has stated numerous times that they plan on implementing pet classes. Its not necessarily because of the mount, but I'm sure the lore will have tie ins. Seriously people need to stop arguing over semantics and do a little research first.
Contrived storytelling is always frowned upon though and has been one of the biggest complaints against SE's latest works, XIII being the most popular. There's no lore stating that you can't ride a Goobue, thus the possibility is there for them to add the lore that supports you being able to. Yeah...I don't know, seems like people suddenly forget things when something seems to be "threatening" their new found toys -- It's exactly why I said it would have worked better as part of the pet systems, yet somehow working better automatically means not being implemented at all.
Of course they will but by the time they get around to adding new classes this Gobbue thing will be long forgotten. My point was they're not going to add a new class alongside the mount just to justify it in the lore.
Except it wouldn't have been added to "justify" the lore, it would have been a part of the class's abilities. Though SE could go the route and turn everyone into a pet class if you want to talk about justifying something.
However the game, lore and the story arcs are being rebuilt for 2.0. So how is this contrived storytelling exactly? What does it matter if the entire foundation for the game and story will be changing in the near future?
And yet I've heard few, if any, complaints about materia being added in the exact same way. It's not outside the realm of possibility to see this added as lore is all I'm saying. Maybe they just now figured out a way to permanently tame them, an advancement in tech/magic from the Ul'dah opening. Maybe someone from another area of the world figured out how to do it and has come to Eorzea. Maybe it's something to do with the Garleans. There are dozens upon dozens of ways for them to do it easily and then it's lore for good.
